Getting into Train-ing...
Okay, I'm no
railride.
But considering this was a bare expanse of plywood earlier this afternoon, it's not too horrible.
Well, yes it is, if you know trains. Horrible mismatch of scales and all.
And, yes, that's the Batmobile, James Bond and the Green Hornet at the crossing.
And yes, that's a Gobot walking down Main Street next to the Indian riding a triceratops while Santa Claus plays piano.
And, yes, Captain Scarlet in his Spectrum Patrol Vehicle is squaring off against a giant mutant horsey.
It's no wonder the German Bundespolezei in his Mercedes patrol car is staying safely hidden behind the billboard...
Trains and track by Lionel. O scale buildings by Plasticville. HO buildings by Wiad of Germany. Cars from Dinky, Corgi, Matchbox, Schuco et cetera. Grass is indoor/outdoor carpeting from Lowe's.

Wish I still had my original layout. My dad spent hundreds of dollars on Faller and Heljan structure kits over the years; then I hit puberty, got bored and blew them all up with firecrackers. =(
(I do have all my Walthers catalogs going back to '72, so at least I can reminisce)

Nice layout, looks like something the kids would wake up to on Christmas morn, with the new toys artfully arranged into a scene.
Not my father would scoff at your choice of scale, since L scale makes the cars too short and the connectors too long, and don't get him started on the third rail. Then again, my dad's a stickler for accuracy in model railroading, he even replaces the normal conectors on his HO trains with ones that are complete working miniatures, accurate down to the pivot pins.

HOLY SHIT!! PSYCHO!!! Oh man! That was one of my first Gobots and still a favorite. Nifty little ambulance/hearse/Ectomobile there, too.
BTW, I'm a Transformer toy nut. They actually made a Transformer electric train, and once I found two of its cars in the _garbage_ as I was walking to school. I have no idea what later became of them.

Hee! I remember the electric train, never got one, though.
DYK that Psycho was actually the "Psychoroid", a transforming car driven by the anime hero Space Cobra? :) If you look through the canopy, you can see Cobra (molded in red) and his robot babe sidekick (silver plated). I had the original version at one point; there was a missile launcher activated by a button in the roof.
