Mias Riverthorn was a human alchemist in the city of Elderwyn, a small but growing city where magic was common. The northernmost point of Elderwyn was comprised of the sprawling complex of the University. Mias taught there part time, due to an agreement that if he did so, the University would fun his membership in the Alchemists' Guild, as well as give him lodgings, and access to the botanical gardens of the Atrium. In this way, he was able to conduct research as was his wish. Occasionally, he took time to go and collect herbs in the wild. On one such occasion, he was bitten by a creature called an Ilkari. Ilkari are demons who have taken wolf shape in the hope of giving lycanthropy to mortals. Mias quickly realized that he had been bitten by some form of werewolf, and rushed home to brew a cure. This potion was designed to destroy his latent wolf form, leaving his human one. Instead, it did the opposite, leaving him as a wolf-man permanently. Ever since then, he has been trying to re-secure his place at the University, all while trying to find a cure for his condition, if such exists.
Before his transformation, he would often wear his robes, or a pair of brown pants, along with a pair of dress shoes. However, in his transformed state, his pants and shoes no longer fit. He found that he could still wear his vest, however, and took to wearing that. After some asking around, he found a tailor (pun intended) willing to sew him a pair of shorts for his new lupine legs. He wears these at times, but the feelign of them, or any clothes for that matter, feels strange against his fur. However, he does hate leaving himself exposed. He tried to get a cobbler to make shoes for him, but none of the prototypes they created really fit his new paws very well.
He has grey fur, and a white underbelly. His eyes are yellow, in the manner of a wolf. His hands are very paw-like, but he does have some grasping ability, thank goodness. Otherwise, he would not longer be able to function as an alchemist, or a human being for that matter. He has also attempted to brew several tonics to allow him to continue with a human diet, but none of them work. His new body requires fresh meat, and cured meats are a commodity that are a tad too expensive for his meager means. As a result, he is forced to hunt prey every few days, giving him a fearsome reputation.
