This is Yu. Not yOu, but Yu... that's her name, Yu.
A bit of a story accompanies this, and the essence of it is this:
Yu is half mouse, half snake, and since she thinks of herself as a helpless mousie girl, she takes real objection to anyone who eats mice. She aotumatically hate cats and foxes, so on meeting one, would like nothing more than to squeeze the life out of them. Problem is, unlike her unbeknownst mother, she needs a reason to kill someone, and entirely too often, the cats and foxes she meets are sweet and kind and DON'T eat mice, so she can't justify eating THEM.
THIS cat (Jahan) has a bit of a crush on her, no pun intended, and for as sweet and kind and loving as he is, Yu is having trouble hating him, much less eating him. The fact she can and does eat people is a sort of connundrum that's made her life confusing as all heck. Not knowing WHAT she is or where she came from is also confusing. Not fitting in with either the wild or the civilized is frustrating.
I feel sorry for Yu. ^-^

Heheh. It's part of a fairly lengthy history and past I gave her... just never got a chance to do anything with it, so was a bit hard to get that relatively minor character note out there.
I'm really happy with how this turned out too! It's like you can feel her hissing, "What do you want you MOUSE EATER!?"
...as if she, a 10+ yard/meter long lamia really does feel threatened by a waif thin, love struck feline.
...and poor kitty, all tingly blushing, mind blank as he stares, infatuated, unable to talk. ^-^
He's a good friend and deserved it. This was a long time in coming.

To say nothing of the awkwardness of her prom where she inadvertanly unhinged her jaw during the last slow dance of the night. Never found her date but she keeps his cummerbund on a special shelf next to her admittedly GIGANTIC garter belt. *ahem* Sorry, couldn't resist. I do like the character though, always had a thing for people caught between worlds, especially when one of those worlds isn't very nice, in absolute reversal of their inner nature.
In a way, I do too. A friend of mine asked me a while back if I had any NORMAL characters that -didn't- have something seriously wrong with them.
...and after thinking long and hard, I had to honestly answer, No... I didn't. Normal people bore me to tears, so to keep my characters dynamic, they have their flaws and screwy perceptions and precepts than give them all unique, and all too often, totally F#@%'ed up personalities.
Caught between worlds? VERY!
...some of them litterally too! ^-^
That school prom is an amusing idea tho, thanks for sharing! ^-^
Yu can't be around people very long, so I guess she'd had to have grown up without ever attending school. Her unbeknownst half-sister Sophis, on the other paw, is quite social and had a very pleasant... if weird... childhood. If you want more info about her, then ask Felpur. Sophis and Yu have the same mother, tho none of them know it.
