Thanks to the rain outside, I was able to finish this before next sunday. The pencil lines are still visible because the surface of the paper is so rough, that I can´t erade them completly. Well, maybe we will survive this.^^

Me too, I own all 22 books and even 3 of the picture books. XD
Not bad choices, they were all very awesome in their own way. :D My own favorites are Veil Sixclaw, Deyna Taggerung, Skipper (all the Skippers, actually, with the exception of Skipper Banjon and Skipper Skor Axehound; they were both kind've jerkish), Thrugg, Finnbarr Galedeep - well, I like most of the otter characters, so I'll save myself some time. ;D My favorite villain is Ublaz Mad-Eyes, though.

wow awesome characters
So I see you have a weakness for otter characters. They really look cute in the cartoon.
I somehow adored Zarina the cat imperatrix too though she has a rotten heart but I can´t help myself ^///^
I also like the badger characters because they are somehow the "giants" in the redwall universe
Maybe it is just me but I think the different animals are somehow related to fantasy races
Mice - humans
rats - orks
foxes - dark elves
squirrels - light elves
badgers - giants
snakes and birds - dragons
otters - marine folks
small birds - harpies
Again this is just my oppinion.
What do you think about it?

Heh heh, thanks. X) Yes, otters are awesome. Though I also like ferrets and foxes. But in the Nelvana cartoon, eh, there were a few tweaks I would have made to them, but that's just me.
Zarina? Who's Zarina? ^^ Oh, do you mean Tsarmina? If so, then yeah, she was pretty cool despite being a crazy brat-cat. Hahaha!
Oh yes, the badgers were bad@$$es to the max. I mean WOW. :D
Huh, I actually have thought about the animal species have "fantasy race counterparts" before, but I've never been able to match them up like you have. That's neat! :D
Hm, yes, your choices do make sense: mice as the smallest and "weakest" species, it makes sense they'd be the "humans", while the rats, who are generally seen as bigger, uglier versions of mice, would make good counterparts to orcs, who are generally seen as bigger, uglier versions of humans.
Foxes are already kind've a 'magical' type of species, and I suppose squirrels, given their similarity to foxes (red fur, bushy tails) plus their ability to 'fly' through the trees would make them both seem like elf counterparts.
Of course badgers are the giants and otters are the marine folk, that makes perfect sense. And yes, the snakes and big birds would make excellent dragons for them, although I never gave much thought to the harpies, but I suppose they'd match up with the small birds, haha.
So yeah, they all match up. :D

Hehe thanks.
You are right. I was talking about Tsarmina. She was re translated to Zarina in the German version of the books. Like Constance was renamed in Konstantia and some other characters got a bit different names.
The only animal race I couldn´t match out with fantasy characters so far are the cats. Maybe they are similar to wizards
and ferrets have a similarity to trolls in my oppinion.
moles ans this other mouse race "Spitzmaus" could be like dwarves^^
But Redwall and its characters are way too unique to be compared to other fantasy stories.^^

Welcome. :)
Its interesting how names are different certain languages.
Hmm, maybe... though I think pine martens are more wizardly since they're either assistants to kings or kings themselves, ruling by 'magic powers'.
What kind of trolls are you referring to? XD
Yeah, the moles would be dwarves. :D What about the hedgehogs?
Again, that is true. :)

Well, I'm not familiar with "Elfquest", so I don't know what the trolls in that are supposed to be like (though I did look up images of them on google; they don't really remind me of ferrets at all, hahaha).
Hedgehogs would be Hobbits? Hm, maybe...
I think you mean the hares, because rabbits *very rarely* appeared in the Redwall books. Maybe the hares can be nymphs or some kind of elf as well, what with their disappearing acts and whatnot.

only in behaviour they could be compared, not in character design
But Elfquest I can recomment to anyone who likes fantasy comics, most of the printed books now can be found as web comics on elfquest.com free to read^^
True that about hares. That proves that Redwall character´s are just too unique to compare them with something else.
