So I got inspired randomly a few days ago to create some jerseys and logos for the new Hawaii Kahunas (formerly the Galveston Sand Dollars) of the FBA. Cause you know, inspiration strikes randomly it seems. ^^

I did not know, however, that the GM of the team was already designing the official uniforms and was planning on revealing them at the draft (which was a few hours ago as of this posting). I designed them apart from her knowledge and without seeing anything she had designed first (it was still a WIP).

So while I finished these a few days ago, I held off on posting them because A) I didn't want to steal someone else's thunder, and B) I didn't own the team, so the final design choice would fall to the one who does own the team, who just happened to be designing their uniforms already. There was no way these were going to be official or canon in any sense. Plus uploading different designs without the GMs consent and undercutting her effort to create suspense for an official revealing would have been a giant dick move. She deserved the courtesy of being able to reveal the team's uniforms on her own terms and without unexpected competition.

And that's ok. Sometimes, we create things for the FBA and they don't get used. There are a TON of creative, inspirational minds that are a part of the league, and they deserve a chance to shine too. I've already got plenty of art and designs in the FBA, and I'm not as active in it as I once was. It was time for some fresh ideas to step forward and have their contributions recognized in the league.

But at least these were fun to design. It had been a while since I've designed a basketball jersey, so it was nice to see that I've still got it. :)

But seriously, go check out  bossbull's designs (which are the official jersey designs for the team). I feel they are extremely creative and really take sports jersey designs in another direction. A good direction. That's all I really tried to accomplish with these designs; clean, unique, and outside-the-box, which is what I think her designs accomplish perfectly. ^^

Here's to another successful season! I'll still be rooting for my newly moved Sand Dollars! I've never been to Hawaii, but having lived in Galveston for quite a while, I'm positive the new locale is a huge upgrade in beach and living quality. ;)
