In light of halloween I thought I would try and make a new take on a monster I really like- mimic chicks!
Mimics are seen in a lot of games as things like chests with teeth- they're actually from what I gather, kind of like spirits that can possess objects with an adhesive grip. I was thinking of making it so a round of these girls could possess inanimate objects but also sometimes people too, if they're weak enough. This means they could parade around as you, but also if you're dying or something they can host and keep you alive. Kinda neat I think. :]
This one is meant to be wearing a mask- they typically have creepy grins and I haven't really decided what I want to do with their real faces yet.
I hope you enjoy though! and sorry if my shading is kind of sloppy- this might also be a little too fancy or elaborate for a mimic- I never know if I make things too crazy.

Ilithids are quite possibly my favorite race (from Dungeons and Dragons). My basic understanding of them is that they are basically space-faring Cthulhu-esque time-travelers who somehow cast themselves backward through time--or perhaps forward--and then lost the ability to return to their own time. So now they attempt to absorb as much knowledge as possible (by consuming the minds of their prey) in the hopes of somehow regaining the ability to return to their home.
Then there's the Thoon... Batshit-crazy Ilithids who have traveled to the darkest regions of space, and came back twisted and really pissed off.

Ooooh yes... Yes, you do. I run a D&D 3.5e campaign, and there is a single Ilithid which the players have met, and he isn't a homicidal brain-sucker. At least he hasn't shown that side of himself yet... However, most Ilithids are evil, or close to evil, and are very difficult to fight against because their common practice is to use MINDBLAST on you to basically make you stand there and drool, while they wrap their tentacles around your head, pop your braincase open, and consume your brains...
Plus, they can become vampires. Fucking vampire Ilithids, man.
