If my memory isn't too fuzzy, Anthrocon 1999 had the first Macro panel ever held.
Amongst the various topics discussed,
Rogue read some of the Macro writing tips from this flowchart out to the room.
In general, the attendees seemed to concur that this flowchart captures the essence of writing macrofurry stories.
Hopefully it still holds up in the now broader audiences of furry.
This was originally published in Megamorphics #8, in January 1999. I figured I should post this one as an image since it is only 1 page and has a visual layout.

I remember attending that panel, though I'm pretty sure it was the 2000 version at AC. Totally baffled me when Kage said 'You should take out your favorite part and it should still be a story'... I was like, "Why should I take out the plot and character development?" >.>;
I'm not certain, but I think I was there...
I used to kill myself and make it to all the cons. I only stopped back around 2002 or 2003. Maybe 2004.
But I remember Kage sitting up front and asking the question "At what point does it become 'macro'"; this would have been the same con where Torrle debuted "the Paw".
Or am I misremembering?

Ah! Ya caught me.
Pretty much when I wrote this silly thing out, I was new to Macro. Which mean I only really knew about "growth" and "stompies/gore" as the main paths for plot.
I know more now. You could easily write a big-paw story for the paw folks and have it just as trite, for example.
I'm going to need some UML or flowchart diagramming software for the next version...
