This is the (hopefully) finished color version of a character development refsheet for my winged jackal 'sona, Auric, who is described in text in my Journals. The artwork is by Ashe Skyler (see below) and I added the text on the right side digitally to try to get all of the important information in one place.
I knew that selecting colors was going to be difficult but I was amazed exactly how hard it was to try to get the shades right. I'm still not quite satisfied with some of the color shades but it is close enough now to serve as a reference for others.
This digitally colored pencil drawing was both drawn and colored by artist Ashe Skyler, who does the Just Another Day webcomic: http://jad.raven-wing.net/ If you enjoy winged characters with attention to details, go check out her webcomic. She is great to work with on commissions and I can't thank her enough for her help and patience. She has posted this on her DeviantArt account: http://asheskyler.deviantart.com/ar.....-OCD-428156264
On the main picture of this refsheet the coverlet (covert) feathers above the primaries (the ones with the two bars) really should have had another row of coverlets above them, that's something that Ashe will be tweaking on the next sketch she does for me (a more complete turnaround refsheet). For now, the small wings in the upper right show the small feathers near the wing's "hand" (the carpal patch) more accurately.
Note that the 'stone' of the amulet does not have a fixed color. It does not always need to be deep blue, it can be almost any color that goes with a colored drawing.
