Here is a top/back view of my tail design for Auric. The left shows an x-ray view of what the tail bones might look like (with the vanes of the tail feathers also shown for reference). The right shows a possible pattern for the small cover feathers (coverts) at the base of his tail (with the vanes of the tail feathers shown for reference but the furry tail omitted). Note that it doesn't have to have exactly 3 feathers on each side, that is just representative of the feather location. The feathers could also be folded so they point straight down alongside the tail.
