She was at one point... She and her older sister ruled over the land, Luna had control of the night and her sister the sun. But as most normal beings, most of the slept through the night, and Luna began to feel neglected. She then became poisoned from an entity. Her sister ignoring her plight didn't help either, and she took on a 'nightmare' form and wanted her night to last forever, but failed and was imprisoned on the moon for 1000. That's all prehistory in the show, as it starts upon Luna's return, and goes forward there. She is torn from the Entity and returns to normal, taking her place once again by her sister's side.
