Fursuit Tail Tutorial

An easy step-by-step guide to making fursuit tails.
This guide is pretty basic, complete with a generic canine character.

I won't give away the exact details of making fursuit parts, if I did I'd be out of the business! Good luck to any aspiring fursuit makers though!
Feel free to use this character to practice your first tail with-but please do not steal/copy/alter anything from this tutorial.

What about making something like a ring tail animal? (Something like lemurs, raccoons or a red panda tail)

Same principal:
Draw out the pattern, but cut out each area that will be a different fur colour, then sew together all of the left side then all of the right side before going to step 5 ^^

How do you stop thin tails (like feline) from twisting?

It's all in the patterning, if your patterning is correct and straight and your sewing is in line it shouldn't twist. Try also different methods of stuffing the tail, as sometimes this can be the cause :)

I know this is a bit old but will this work for smaller tails? I wanna make a tail of my drat(dragon/bat) fursona but she has a tiny lil' cotton tail like a typical bat.

Hey! I know this post is 5 years old, I hope you don't mind me asking a question on it!
I always have trouble making the base of the tail (the circular part.) Its always either too big, or too small. Any tips on how to make it the correct size?
