Grow Selection Technique For Line Work - tutorial part 2
So on wiff part two of the tut:
Pic 1: same approach as in part one of tut – A. whatever elements you want to add to your line art are painted in white. B. Click on “Select Opaque” from Section menue. C. “Grow Selection” by whatever number of pixels you want for your line...
Pic 2: add a layer underneath the white and flood fill with black – b'ding – instant outlines.
Pic 3: After merging the black and white layers you can then copy the elements to additional layers and overlap, flip, tilt, deform, etc. And rather than just having outlines you can put additional line work on them – as on the leaves here.
Pic 4: The leaves here were done with that technique – it's quite usefull if you have some large areas to fill with foliage etc and don't want to spend all day doing it – a bit of added cross-hatched shading disguises the repeats so that it looks more natural.
Pic 5: Two other useful uses to use...er... are doing outlines around characters, objects etc – like the light ones that are often used, and glow effects (grow the selection larger and blur it).
And dats it for this little tut.
