Hear The Call of Our Ancestors of Blood and Bone
"Sunset, Moonrise,
See how the land is bathed,
In silver hue.
You feel so lonely,
Come with me and let me show,
There are others just like you.
Who feel the powers of Earth, Sea and Sky,
Of Dragon and Faerie and Shades of the night,
Hear the call of our ancestors of blood and bone,
Of womb and tomb, and standing stone...
Lady, stir your Cauldron well,
Chant your words and sing your spell,
Deep within this darkened hall,
Hear the Goddess Ceridwen call...
See a man,
Alone on a hill,
His arms raised high to the Moon,
Chanting words, a charm, a spell of power,
A Witches Rune...
He calls to the powers of Earth, Sea and Sky,
Of Dragon and Faerie and Shades of the night,
He calls to his ancestors of blood and bone,
Of womb and tomb, and standing stone...
Lady, stir your Cauldron well,
Chant your words and sing your spell,
Deep within this darkened hall,
Hear the Goddess Ceridwen call.
Come and taste of the Cauldron's Brew,
And magic she will give to you,
You will dance in the eye of the storm,
You're Ceridwen's Children,
The Cauldron Born!.
A charm of silver,
The gypsy said,
When he was just seventeen,
Your future I'll tell you,
Every thread and turn,
Is there to be seen...
She took his hands tracing the lines,
Searching for patterns and looking for signs,
Your life a construction, one day you will see,
Through the illusion and into the dream!
So we stand,
On this hill,
Our shadows are cast by the Moon.
Chanting words, a charm, a spell of power,
Our Witches Rune...
We call to the powers of Earth, Sea and Sky,
Of Dragon and Faerie and Shades of the night,
We calls to our ancestors of blood and bone,
Of womb and tomb, and standing stone!"

My Halloween/Samhain picture for this year featuring my Shiloh shepherd satyr character, Idonea, performing part of a Samhain ritual as some wandering souls choose to dance with her. The flowers she is holding are sunflowers, mums, and rosemary, all of which are appropriate offerings for the holiday. She also holds her athame, a ceremonial blade of truth.
So, to my brothers and sisters in the Craft, whatever path you may follow, Blessed Be and have a wonderful Samhain! To those of you who just enjoy a fun night of tricks and treats, have a happy and safe Halloween! Thank you so much for watching me and sharing comments and faves with me. It is much appreciated!
Done with copic markers, micron inks, india ink, and white gel pen on bristol board.

Thank you so much. I've really tried to get better and braver with lighting. When you're a traditional artist, it's just scary as fuck to do dynamic lighting because we can't just put a layer over all the hard work we've done, add some crazy lighting colors, and then delete it if we don't like it to save the whole piece. Nope. It's make or break with any traditional medium.
Tips for markers. When I do a piece that calls for directional, dynamic, or otherwise strange lighting, I do the shading FIRST. Then I layer the base colors and deeper shading on top. The best tip is to be brave with it. You won't learn if you don't step outside your comfort zone. Even if you ruin a piece or two...or three or four or five like I did lol...at least you learned. If you have more questions, you can note them to me, and I'll attempt to help you.
Thanks!

Someday...someday soon....I simply must get a pic of this incredibly stunning dancer with one of my gypsy characters, my maned wolf girl Shirin. I'd LOVE to see how they could interact in a dance that entwined both of their backgrounds...it'd be awesome to see!
Awww, I'm glad you like Idonea. I need to do more with her and her story. She'd fit right in with a gypsy character, in fact one of her friends is a descendent of the Roma, so she's already a bit acquainted with the gypsy people. You'll have to tell me MOAR of this Shirin character.
Here's my Shirin. ;)
She started out as this adoptable I grabbed: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12669815/
And
luthiennightwolf turned her anthro for me here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12670127/
Been slowly piecing together her backstory and she's starting to flesh out more for me. ^.^

Awww *blushy face* I'm glad my doodles catch your eye and give you some measure of amusement! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment on my stuff, it gives me an ego boost every time. Glad you like this one, doing the dynamic belly dance pose was fun.
Hooooooly crap.
Wow.
This is absolutely gorgeous - the richness of the colour - the ethereal, magic power to it...
What a perfect piece for Samhain, I am in love with the bare branches in the background, the detailing of the shawl and the mix of spirituality and spooky in this fantastic composition. You should be extremely proud :3
