Quite an odd arrangement. Looking at the arrangement of landmass and the text box saying "the world is young" it does indeed look like the world is only a few million years past the landmass being a pangaea, suggesting that most of the stuff past the edge would be one giant ocean. But then an assumption like that relating it to Earth's history is probably a bad idea. Could very well be more land beyond what is shown there that people don't know about. For that matter the arrangement of the boarder is... very curious.
I guess we don't actually know what the scale of that map is, come to think of it.
In any case the fact that there is apparently "something" wrong with the world itself is... somewhat unnerving.

Actually, what you're seeing as the edge? Is literally the edge. That's the world. You can walk over the edge and gravity will keep you walking along the bottom, but there's nothing but barren rock underneath.
Size wise, it's essentially a quarter chunk of our world.

Talk about Alien Geometry. Quite bizarre indeed. I guess comparing it to our universe was even more off the mark than I thought it might be.
It does give some possibilities for exactly what might be wrong with the world but that's something the rest of us are just going to need to wait and see on I guess.
Not to mention it raises further questions on exactly what is with that channel of water in the "north east".

I had an illustration somewhere that explained.. Hang on..
I SWEAR I saved that somewhere.. Anyway, think of the realmsphere as a structure of marbles.. Farelliar, our world, is contained within the Prime Realm, which is a form of atmospheric orb. This orb is orbited by the four elemental realms on a vertical axis, as well as the Hadalen and Vitrin realms on a horizontal axis.
And yes, people have explored very small portions of the Belly. It's inhospitable as fuck down there D:

So the realms are all actually in the same "space"? (As opposed to different dimensions?) Or are we talking about 4D space here?
Or is the Prime Realm an orb of space (= reality), beyond which there is none, and do the other realms orbit it "outside" (a term that doesn't really make sense then) of it?
Basically... which type of multiverse are we talking about?
1) "Bubble" universe, where multiple "bubbles" (= realms) share one "dimension" or
2) A "real" multiverse, where the universes (realms) do not interact with each other?
Also, how does the horizon work?

I'll make an illustration later. But in short, there's a lot of stuff that doesn't necessarily seem right. Hence why the world feels weird. :p As for the horizon, what do you mean? There's an atmosphere, and a physical horizon, and the world isn't exactly -tiny-.. If you mean when you're near the edge, it looks like a cliff or a hill depending on where you're looking down from, and you can basically see night and day at the same time.
But then I have to wait :<
I mean that if the world is flat, you would be able to see very, very far if there aren't any obstructions (like geography and landscapes and mountains and stuff) in the way. If you climb a particularly high mountain, you should be able to see huge parts of the world - for thousands and thousands of kilometres.
Is this how it works?
Or is the world formed like an oblate spheroid? This would allow for a more natural horizon, depending on how spherical it is.
I just had another idea: What if somebody were to dig a tunnel straight down to the other side? Has anyone tried that? What happens to gravity and the atmosphere?

The surface has a curve to it, the sketch map I had on Tumblr shows a bit of the underside. It's basically like someone grabbed a piece of the earth and ripped a huge chunk of world out.
And if someone dug a tunnel straight down, they'd be stuck in the middle. :p

Usualy I loathe exposition like this...
...but this is so intruiging, I can't help but not only forgive and forget, but alsocan't wait for how it will go on.
The map reminds me, of a Manga I read a long time ago by the name of Pixie Junket. I don't go into details, as I don't want to spoil it for others in case you had a similar idea.

The exposition works so well because it doesn't come off as an infodump. For starters, it's the start of chapter three, not the beginning of the story; we've already got a feel for the world from a character perspective as well as having connections to character, so pulling back isn't as off-putting. By this point in the story, people have likely subconsciously been wanting to know more about the world at large, which this gives them. And it's done in the form of natural dialogue. It's all in story and delivered in character, so while it may be for the purpose of explaining things to the reader, it doesn't come off as such as the readers likely feel that this is perfectly normal for Sha (at least it does to me), and by the end its clear that this little monologue is character speech likely occurring while they're traveling when there is otherwise little else going on.

To every rule, there is always an exception.
Just like Alfred Hitchcock did a trailer to his movie 'Psycho' that broke nearly all the rules on how to make a trailer. For the most part you woul d not think you were watching the trailer to a thriller. A murder mystery at best. I mean, watch it:

Aside from the scene at the end, would you believe it was the trailer to a groundbreaking thriller?

What, the lore? I always felt like WoW would make for an amazing single player game, allowing the focus to switch from grinding and daily quests and PVP to feeding you the story, the world, the experience.. Imagine playing the next big hero of Azeroth, instead of one of millions.
In their defense, most MMORPG's are very similar to WoW. As with so many things, the big producers stay on the safe side.
Still, I like to think they did a lot of things better than Wow.
*chuckles*
I still remember the second time on Balmorra and the first time with a male sith assassin I decided to try what happens when I choose 'flirt' with the new female sith lord and gouverner of the planet. I was surprised by the cut in the cutscene and them returning from a tumble a moment later.
Or at the end of the Bounty Hunter storyline were I suzddenly had to decide if the supreme chancellor of the Republic lives or dies.
Nice stuff, but that's just me.

Understandable.
I ahve to admit, I had a little advantage in that regard. I played WoW only for a few months before I changed to SWTOR. And WoW was my first MMO. And I have to say, that there are 3 things I miss from WoW:
1. Worgen
2. Druids
3. An entire World to explore, including flying, swimming and diving. Newer MMO's are a bit lazy in that regard. Though WoW had it's flaws.

I actually had a thought about that, it oft makes you wonder how powerful the heroes were. Cause in game, you're not able to destroy buildings. The hero's were. And it was them and smaller units. Are WE the smaller units? Or are we champion units that would haft to be unlocked?
The story became a tad convoluted but, I'll give you an abridged version with Pandaria.
Thrall went missing, leaving Hellscream to lead, Hell scream went full berserker mode ostracizing the trolls cause they're not orcs or the right shade of green.
Found Pandaria, said "Lets invade" and invaded, made Allies with monkeys, destroyed sacred lands and was eventually possesed by a dark power coined "The sha' dark
spirits that plague all of the world only for some reason they effect pandarians more. Any ways, he was possesed by "Pride" afterwards he awoke dark powers and said
if ya ain't an orc, or with me. You're against me. BOOM. Horde and Alliance Team up and kick his ass. Thrall reappears to help but, not save the day. Turns out Alliance
King is now the peaceful type. Troll leader, is now full leader of Horde, Jaina Proudmoore, hates horde (Specially Gerrash) And now Orcs from another dimension are invading

Interesting map, if this had been a globe I'd be wondering about the weather effects with no large oceans or poles to regulate the climate and sea/air currents...But I guess we'll find out about that later.
Seems like there is something of a climate regulation on that world, there seems to be something like arctic regions near the edge and what seems to be a large volcano or lava lake in the center, least that's what I'm assuming is going on with those areas and their function. Still confused about how the seasons work exactly..;there's night and day cycles too so there must be some kind of orbit around something, or something orbiting around that world...

Everything works somewhat strangely. The sun is Solarin and the twin moons are glowy spots on the orb of Aqanin, and they have a slightly offset vertical orbit, so Solarin pulls in and out of seasonal range. Solarin being the fire realm and Aqanin the water realm, btw. :)
I'll try and make an illustration that explains this stuff..

So, this is the Mall, You are Here, and that biiig, red splotch in the middle is the Food Court...
Yeah, I kind of got halfway through Panel 1 that it's Sha Vida speaking. I didn't really recognize her 'voice' as such, but the explanation of the situation and her references fit. Nice way to front-load the background!

And so while they aren't aware of it, the likely reason things feel "wrong" on an unexplainable level is because the world is "flat" and you can actually walk off the edge onto the underside of the world where things are not just barren and inhospitable but also really weird. ... Says the one guy who probably got there by digging down from the topside and broke through to the bottom side.
Big red thing in the middle...is that a volcano?

You know, Fer, if you keep throwing random bits of lore at us (and then making us WAIT for more...), one of these days I'm going to send a squad of my elite kobold commandos to... invite... you to my place so that you can work on this without interruption. Not counting Ruzha's "motivational" efforts, of course (what, did you think she wouldn't be invited?!?)...
*The kobold commandos stroll after you, munching on popcorn and enjoying the show. Since they've seeded the whole area with literally hundreds of (nonlethal) traps, your chances of actually ESCAPING them are nil.*
Well, since you're apparently not interested in coming to where Ruzha is waiting for you, it looks like I'll have to... entertain... her while you're busy shooting innocent people...
Note: Any claims by you that Ruzha isn't with me will be disregarded. She'd have to post the disclaimer herself.

Seriously, though, can you give us some kind of general idea about how your world is set up?
We know that there are "battlecocks" (someone likes her double entendres, eh?) and black tailed mages, we know that there are dragons (possibly taking/having a humanoid form) and at least one "monastery" (i.e. Mis'Alia's). In short, we have a few bits and pieces of information, but that's about it.
But what's the GENERAL situation? Many small kingdoms and the like? One big (evil?) empire? Everyone out for him/her/hir/itself? Many groups of "adventurers" (read: sword-/spell-wielding psychopaths)? Strict social norms (e.g. no sex outside of marriage - yes, I know Fen and Vix aren't, but they're kind of special anyway)? Some thoroughly evil (but still humanoid) races? No black and white morality but many shades of grey (no, NOT that stuff!)?

http://www.feretta.net/the-lore-corner/ <- I've actually put out a ton of information about it, people just need to check the source ;)
The only things I haven't covered are evil races (because there are none, there are good and bad of all races), social norms (for the most part the same as our world, but without the religions dictating how people live) and the difference between the Draakin (Akah'nen) and the Draako (Mis'Alia) - Which is that one is a race of dragons and the other is a race of very long lived mammal off-shoots. Outside of that, I've put out maps, I've put out details about the magic system, and I'm working on an illustration that explains the realm sphere. :p

Awesome sauce! Chapter 3 begins and we are greeted to lore! I love me some lore! I'm excited to see is my feelings are true as the story progresses. I mean, seems to me the world is shattered, but wasn't always. Each section of the world is its own unique part, but it was all one big planet once. Time will tell!
Uh-oh. Rapid technological and magical development, "young" (possibly still sparsely populated?) world and "old, wise" people. And ancient artifacts all over the place.
There aren't many theories that can encompass all of the above and most of them are doing double duty as names of iconic Id Software games.

say is this world post apocalyptic earth or a colony of earth and the two gods is really the conflict of humanly and an alien races duking it out on this poor galactic body which resulted in the total, but temporarily sterilization of the planet. With the pond smart AI is from a combat HK that was sunk in that war.
*uses a tone that almost sarcastic* I, see, *start to talk normally* but something happened that evolves an highly intelligent race of people getting will, there not here know. say would you like for to draw you a concept Space HK? It's been a long time sense the last time I draw one. ^^
