Auric Refsheet - upper main pane (by Ashe Skyler)
This is just the upper main character pane of The Great Big Auric Refsheet found here http://www.furaffinity.net/full/15514436/ It is mostly traditional linework with some shading and then digital color.
Note: his mane is too large across his shoulders in the main ref at the upper left, it should be more petite.
Note that when looking at the back of a bird's wings the feathers overlap toward the wingtip and when looking at the underside of a bird’s wings, the feathers overlap toward the body. This can be seen in Ashe’s wing tutorial: http://www.raven-wing.net/tutorials/birdwing.php , and the overlap is particularly relevant when showing the missing feather. My apologies if this seems basic but artists don’t all know how wing feathers actually work, and unless they’re experienced or specialize in wings they can seem rather daunting so I've included a bit of tutorial on my refsheet.
The three tiny feathers at the tips of Auric's ears make them look somewhat like gryphon 'ears' are often illustrated. This helps define the character and gives him a bit more avian look. For a detailed or realistic drawing the feathered ear tips will be fairly subtle but for simplified rough sketches or toony/chibi drawings the eartip feathers may need to be more obvious or exaggerated. His eartip feathers should be parallel to each other rather than spreading out and they should be rounded at the tips as shown in the ear detail view (rather than pointed feathers) so the ears will have a scalloped look rather than a saw-toothed look, here are a few good examples http://www.furaffinity.net/full/16059678/ , http://www.furaffinity.net/full/11841822/ , http://www.furaffinity.net/full/13489256/ .
Auric's hair/headfur/mane is open to some artistic interpretation. He can be shown with hair/headfur that is short on top and long in back or with a mane that covers the top of his head, back of his neck, and a bit of his upper chest (but not usually on his throat). One of the reasons that Auric has a mane/hair/headfur is that it makes him look less Anubian and helps to differentiate him from other winged jackals. For a more realistic look, his mane can be highlighted or streaked with one or more secondary colors like white or light gold (a ‘salt and pepper’ look of light brown and white would be appropriate) since real wild canids tend to have a lot of different colors in their fur.
For fancy close up views Auric's eyes have two colors in them, a light gold base and darker gold lines radiating out as can be seen in the eye detail view or in this drawing of chibi Auric: http://www.furaffinity.net/full/14842760/ (the large chibi eyes make a good illustration). The color palette on the left pane shows both colors
Auric's wing pattern is the same on both wings. In the Front View on the refsheet it looks a bit different because one wing is folded a bit. On the front/inside view of his 'secondary' flight feathers (the big white ones attached to the wing 'arm' rather than the 'hand', there are two horizontal stripes or 'bars' on the ones closer to his body and only one 'bar' on the ones further from his body, it changes from two 'bars' to one 'bar' at the wing 'elbow'.

Here is the text, for convenience of people using Google translate:
Upper left:
"No, I'm not going to pose nude!"
Auric is always shown "SFW", PG, clean, tame, and generally wearing clothes.
Chibi Auric (with towel)
"Chibi Auric can be silly and expressive but real Auric is serious and reserved!"
Upper center:
Head shape is a mix of realistic and Anubian.
Note the almond shaped eyes.
Ears are tall but not too tall, he's a jackal not a jackass!
feathers overlap --> . . . . <-- feathers overlap
Upper right:
3 small feathers
ring on right hand
stud earrings
sharp curved claws
slender fingers
hand pads
foot pads
4 canine toes
Lower left:
Often shown missing a feather. Exact one may vary but it is usually one of the inner greater secondary coverts of the left wing.
Front view (ventral)
Lower center:
Nipples always hidden by short chest fur.
Navel and "six pack" abs may be visible.
Side view (profile)
Lower right:
Jackals have a less-prominent forehead than a wolf.
His eyes tend to be almond-shaped and slightly slanted, they should show a bit of white (sclera) around the iris, more than a dog but not as much as a human eye.
<-- feathers overlap . . . . feathers overlap -->
Tail is furry, shortish, with a tip the same color as his mane.
Back view (dorsal)
