A Tale of Tails, 3-8 - Two years of comic!
Aw yeah, we've been going on this for TWO! YEARS! Can you believe that? On April 7th 2013, the first page of this comic was officially released. Since then, we have gained 4000 followers and have put out almost 100 pages!
I'll get around to doing something special in the spirit of this event, but I'm also going to be slowing down production for a little while, to give myself a rest. I recommend followers to read my latest journal in order to get an idea of what's going on.
In the meantime, I hate this page.. >_>

Maybe her tails tip would have been a different color if not the magic.
Maybe her natural color match's the tip to be difficult to see by normal observation.
Maybe the black tip is a side affect and not really necessary.
Maybe the owl is actually a guy.

Hurray, two years of ToT, even though I've only known about it for a few months.
I don't normally read comics, but this is one of the many that i can't wait for.
Congrats on two years and ~100 pages Feretta, the comic is awesome.
Also... Glowing water sounds intriguing... We must experiment on... willing test subjects... for science, of course!

Reminds me of the time 4Kids redubbed the YuGiOh anime to talk about the "shadow realm" instead of just killing people.

This reminds me of something.
Magic in RPG's is too much bound by rules. There shouls always be space for something unintended or unknown. I know the GM has the freedom to do so anyway, but then many Players will bitch and moan that it isn't in the rules. My opinion?
Keep magic magical.
In this case this can get rather interesting. I mean, if Fen is already 'breaking' the rules, she might be able to use her hair as a focus to use magic. Hmmmh... Then so should Vix... With all that black fur she might be able to use her ears. In some situatins this might be useful.
Just speculating, I'm not looking for a confirmation or a denial.
Just the bragging rights if it later turns out I was tight.

For the most part, magic is bound by strict rules specifically because it allows for a character to break those rules and seem far more badass. I think D&D is the notable exception there, where the rules are in place in order to be instantly recognizable and familiar, and easy to remember.

As for the water: Why didn't Fen become sex crazed back at the temple again? I'm sure we've had this before, but I forgot. :I

Maybe she was created by a powerful Hadalen Mage, intentionally or not.
Or she's a spontaneous manifestation. If there's such a thing at all.

Black fur isn't rare, no. But you need more than just black fur in order to use Hadalen magic. Vix can't do what Fen is doing because Fen isn't supposed to be able to do that.

The elemental magics, fire, earth, water, air, these are all simple to learn and use, and can be performed with any part of your body that has a focus (a brush point). This is basically like painting with your fingers, or toes, or ears if you're a bunny. Hadalen magic is far more complex, and requires the use of a brush. That brush has to be coated with black at the tip. Their tails are their brushes.

Hmm.. Well, alright, imagine doing traditional Chinese calligraphy with your toes instead of a brush.. It's a very specific flow and motion that makes up the visual feel and style, and that can only be achieved using a brush. For most people, of course. Anyway, when you said you needed more than black fur to do Hadalen magic, can you tell what it is? I mean, from what we saw till now, only red pandas have that thing that allows this magic, does it means they are the only species able to?

Okay, look at Fen's tail. See how she has a black tip, but not a black everything? The rest of her tail is yellow/sand? This black TIP is a "focus", like the head of a magic wand, or the paint covered tip of a brush. Now look at Vix's tail. It's all black, it does not have a specific focus area on the tip. It's like a magic wand without the magic part. A brush without paint. Therefor, by the standards everyone else gets judged, she should not be able to "paint". Because she has no paint on her brush.
Colored tip separate from the rest = Focus.

Mmmmh... Very interesting, really But Vix IS able to "paint"! Is she special in her own way? Or maybe she can use her whole body as focus...
After all, it is possible to "paint" (more or less) without brush. There are people who just throws balloons or the whole can to paint...
