It's funny, in hindsight I got that same feel, that "he's to standout in design to be a character made by Fer" kinda vibe. And by not one of Fen's characters I mean as open minded and idea rich as we are as people we still tend to an overarching themes with our characters. Sample a large enough selection of one person's work and you'll see a pattern sooner or later.
Woah! Hugely pleasant surprise to hear from you. Excuse my word salad:
Between Daniel Brown meeting you there and this makes it all the more tempting to give SL a try. I take it a number of people here got acquainted with furrydom through SL? I did so through 4chan (feel free to judge). Tempting, but, I still don't think I will join SL. I avoid MMORPGs as my brain's reward circuit is out of whack as it is, especially on the social front. I do not believe I'd handle Second Life as another time sink very well. As an illustration: Recently I've given Final Fantasy '87 for windows phone a try (was able to get it for free via Bing Rewards), as much as I am not a fan of turn-based games that are not board games; it's been a long time since I even played a board game. The first thing I did was grind until I could afford a phoenix down. You could probably guess that I quickly got a character killed as of not knowing what I was doing and foolishly chose to revive instead of restart. Since then combat has been rather... uninteresting. I was able to knock out whoever that vampire is in like four or five rounds with little if any strategizing. Yet I still intend to keep playing.

Second Life is less like an MMORPG or a game and more like a 3D chatroom, if I were to give it a comparison. It's function first and foremost is a chatroom, and some people have scripted games within it. But they mostly just feel janky and slow and are not worth your time.
And I'll just say that I actually joined SL because of a thread on 4chan, so I can't judge a whole lot.

It's a game in the sense we use a controller (a keyboard and mouse) to interact with it, past that point I can't think of a single classification that really describes it as a whole without missing a good chunk of what it is.
Second Life is what it is for lack of a better term, it is a whole another world, not to step on your furry toes Ruzha but even 3D chatroom falls short by a mile in describing what Second Life is, it really IS a whole another world in and of itself.
