Some of my watchers might recognize this weapon from earlier pictures. He is Blue's spiritual/magical/aura weapon, made from the pure magic that's trapped inside of her. It fuels her shape-shifting ability, giving her near perfect control of it, but any other use of has a mental block that can only be overcome under extreme stress. She has begun though, on occasion, to use it without thinking. Its a subconscious thing, and such is the case illustrated here.
Just a random picture I've been wanting to do for a while now and finally found the time and inspiration to do while at MFF. ^^ I had so much fun there. xD
Without warning, bright aqua light burst from Blue's forehead, making her gasp and cry out as her body arched. Tossing her head back, blue hair flying, she went rigid with strain, a grimace of pain on her face. The soulgem that decorated her forehead, her physical link with the magic she had never been able to control, shone like a star and poured magic like water.
Something was happening that she didn't understand and couldn't control and a small part of her mind, not absorbed by the pain or the electric current of magic running through her, was afraid of what the outcome of this strange outburst would be. The only times her magic had surface had been under threat, giving her what she needed most to survive, but this time was different... why now, why here? And just what was going to form out of that magic?
The liquid pooled and curled in on itself, sliding into a column of glowing blue that lengthened and stretched. A shining bar hovered before her face, though her eyes were closed too tightly to see it. It was only when the light started to fade and the painful energy drained back to wherever it lived that the half-dragon manage to gasp out and start breathing again, her mind suddenly dizzy from lack of air. How long had she been absorbed? Minutes? Hours?
Questions died when her eyes found the shining silver weapon that hovered before her, giving the feeling that it was impatiently waiting for her to reach out and take it. Suddenly shy, though she couldn't have said why, Blue reached to clasp a hand around the shaft, feeling the scallop-like grooves in it digging comfortably into her hand. They made her grip sure and solid, though part of her wondered if it wasn't something else that kept the weapon so firmly clasped.
A feeling of sentience, of a primal mind brushed against her consciousness and it was lucky she held so tight, or she'd have dropped it in surprise. It was alive! Or... sort of alive. Eyes wide in her face, she studied the long gleaming blade, sharp as a razor, and the deep blue orb set near the shaft that matched the color of her soulgem. There was no doubt in her mind that this weapon was hers, a part of her, and that it had its own kind of awareness with a link to something inside of her that she couldn't quite touch.
A voice whispered in her mind, or was it an image that flashed behind her eyes?, and a name surfaced in her consciousness.
Ryugokai.

Okay, first thing I'm going to do is be honest with you- I'm really tired, so I'm too lazy to read all of that description. I usually do, I try to always do it, but it's just not in me tonight. So I apologize for that. >.>
HOWEVER, the picture is really pretty. I'm always amazed by the amount of detail you can put into stuff. It looks awesome, well done :3
