O wow, Mark! My first good (quality) guitar was a '64 Gibson SG, I bought it 2nd hand in 1978, and it was really beat-up. But played through my Fender amp, It Sang! It was stolen form me in 1984, but a few years ago I found a very similar SG and its right now my best.
