Namely, a pair of pine martens, carnivores and flesh-eaters themselves, but small enough to be considered food for the bears, wolves and gluttons of the forest and field. They're on a journey to seek sanctuary with the rabbits, squirrels and other prey that have gathered to Oren--but they don't know if welcome or condemnation will meet them.

Anything could follow that last panel. A vitriolic chewing-out. A pathetic last-words scene. Stern agonised resolve. There's no way for us viewers to tell which. Now that's dramatic tension!

great art, lovely plot, but this little trope sadly a tad too overused. The *needed the nudge to go and become great/do the deed/change his evil ways* thing. Still if you have to use it at least it is done rather well ;).
