No, this isn't an angst-ridden piece 'cause I don't have a partner for Valentine's ('cause I do). But surely, that's the entire point of what Delilah is saying - the whole 'Valentines Day' thing these days is very artificial, and places a whole lot of unrealistic expectations on people - including those who are in relationships. As one local blogger put it:
"Valentine's Day – without a doubt, the least romantic day of the year, designed to sell cards, make single people feel miserable, and strip relationships of any possibility for spontaneity. Yay."

she does have a point. they would be better off dishing out the cash to a deserving prostitute... than to a lie.
in germany they tried to establish valentine's day as a kind of celebraxcy day, but so far with little success. all they managed is making it a major day for florists, because most husbands would shower their spouses with flowers.
