Created for Dragoniade's TF contest & submitted minutes before the contest's Friday the 13th deadline...
26 FEBRUARY 2009 UPDATE:
And as it turns out the first place WINNER in the contests "Favorite Picture" category! - http://dragoniade.deviantart.com/jo.....2948/#comments
When I first became obsessed with transformation as a kid, this was one of, if not my very first idea for an elaborate TF of my own imagining. For whatever reason though, I never got around to depicting it until today.
IMHO I may never top this picture; perhaps it's time for me to retire from this game...?
Oh and BTW - here's the story that accompanies this image:

SECOND UPDATE:
The story won 2nd place in the contest's "Stories and Other Media" category!
SYNCHRONICITY BULLETIN: The same day I finished this story and picture someone did an online comic strip about dolphins having a secret ability to influence people, although in quite a different way:

YET ANOTHER UPDATE (as of 3 March 09):
came across the following in a story about a long-cancelled, X-Files-type TV series:
"But the hard kernel of anxiety in all of these shows is the same thing that's been freaking out George W. Bush: human hybrids. In "Threshold," the aliens employed an enormous, levitating, shape-changing snowflake thingy to hypnotize the crew of a freighter ship while [HERE IT COMES] ***emitting a sound capable of altering the genetic makeup of anyone who hears it.***"
'Sound' familiar?

IMHO your finest ever illustration is What Big Teeth I Have -- but of course I would say that, wouldn't I?
While I obviously hope you're kidding re: retirement, you've certainly earned the right.

It only works when 3 dolphins combine their ultrasonic abilities - the harmonics the the overlapping sound waves create is what causes the TF. (This is all scientific fact, any oceanographer will confirm this )
