Hello! This is my first uploaded picture to FA! To be honest, this picture is a lot of firsts for me. It is the first anthro, the first musket and the first hand I have ever drawn. However, please critique this image, as it's the only way I am going to be able to improve my art.
About the Image:
The character is my "fursona" named Fusilier. He's a blood or chestnut bay (depends on what side of the pond you are on) equine with a white stripe that's offset a bit at the tip, looking somewhat similar to a musket with a bayonet. I'm a history nerd that studies the Napoleonic Era significantly, therefore it didn't take long for me come up with this idea. The uniform he is wearing is based off of the Prussian Silesian fusiliers, while the musket is an accurate drawing of the Potsdam 1809 Pattern Musket. The only main difference is that I replaced was the engraved Potsdam marking to my Fusilier signature.
The Image was drawn using GIMP cuz I'm cheap.
Also note, colors on my computer screen are generally significantly lighter than when on other screens, hence most of my pictures are significantly darker than they should be. I have tried lightening this one up, but I think it may have diluted some of the colors in the process. If it is too light or dark, please let me know and I'll try to fix it.
Thanks for reading!

Looks great! I really like the detail you put into the musket. It's so well done, even shrunk down to icon size it's clear what the weapon your character is holding. You can't see much of the uniform, but there's enough to get that Napoleonic vibe. And good choice on the bright, strong colors for the character while the background is misty and cloudy. Helps separate the character from the background and gives the image more pop. Great first posting!
lol, yeah, the musket was like 80% of the work. I went a little crazy on the details as I found a reproduction online (Link here: http://www.militaryheritage.com/musket2.htm) that I've wanted for years. I would love to buy one, but I've been a bit too busy trying to survive through college to do so. In my opinion the brass on the Potsdam 1809 makes the weapon very handsome.
I will confess that the uniform was pretty basic, though granted, the Prussian uniforms during the War of Liberation and Sixth Coalition were very simple. I didn't look up the uniformology proper, so the cuffs are probably the wrong shape or missing a button. It would be more obvious if I drew him from the front, as then you can see the black sashes and belts. The shako also isn't the greatest, as it doesn't fully express the oilcloth cover seen on campaign, but I was just too lazy and was more worried about getting the face texture at the time. Obviously, you can tell here that I'm a nerd... I'm a history major, but the Napoleonic era is my favorite era to study.
I'll probably redraw him from a different angle and position sometime in the future, but mainly I wanted to get a decent avatar picture for myself that explains my name a bit.

Well, ironically, he could also theoretically be fighting with Napoleon, at least at the beginning part of the Russian Campaign in 1812. After Prussia's defeat in 1807, they were forced to send a force to help Napoleon invade Russia. I have decided that he is in the 2. Schlesien Fusilier regiment, which was part of General Yorck's command in that campaign. However, Yorck did not go that deep into Russia after being stalled at Riga, then declaring his corps neutral as the Grand Armee fell appart, and joined with the Russians. This then began the War of Liberation, which caused Prussia and some of the other German states to rise up against Napoleon. This regiment would see many of the major battles of the Sixth Coalition, and was even one of the very few veteran units in Blucher's army in the Waterloo Campaign.
I've always been tempted to do a series following the history of that regiment, though I also have a concept of a fictional world in a similar time period, and I haven't decided which one I prefer. :-P
