Dazigar the gnoll lives on the planet Golarion, in the loose conglomeration of city states known as the River Kingdoms, and more specifically the city state of Outsea. And Outsea has military service as a mandate whether you're a sea creature or landlubber. Outsea is one of the places on Golarion that is quite happy to have 'monster' races as citizens such as Sahuagin.
But Dazigar is a gnoll and gnoll's aren't known for doing hard work, or... noble work, or... work if they can help it. Doesn't mean he isn't a good fighter, and he was drafted as an Outsear Privateer. It was on this river boats the gnoll came across a pistol and though he nearly shot himself the 'first' time he toyed with it, he took to learning it as it's the perfect weapon for doing work...without him doing much...work.
It was during one such 'ambush' that Dazigar got wind of a campaign by the neighboring country of Brevoy to explore the northern regions of the 'Stolen Lands' in the River Kingdoms. He sensed an opportunity here and could smell the potential gold on the charter he 'recovered'. Mind made up, all that was left was to head to the meeting place at a trading post called Oleg's. But first, he had to turn in his resignation.
Daz Bangfang is a Gunslinger (Mysterious Stranger)/Swashbuckler (Picaroon) and one of three gnolls I've made for roleplaying games. While Crissor is a paladin in Faerun and Puppy is a barbarian from Korvosa neither grew up 'as' a gnoll. Crissor was raised by a halfling from a pup, and Puppy was one of Gaedren Lamm's 'Little Lambs' until getting beat to near death and thrown in a river to drown.
Daz however, while not 'evil' is a gnoll, when it comes to a lot of their negative stereotypes. While not a slaver (given where he lives) he'd much rather get someone else to do his work, he'd rather sleep or drink the days away (unless coin is involved, then he'll get off his ass in a heartbeat), and he'd rather cheat to win, then ever play by any rules. He's a textbook opportunist, and braggard but he does know how to fight (again...dirty though). That said as it looks like the campaign I made him for isn't going to come together, I'm going to make a party and just use the Kingmaker adventure path to tell him and his soon to be allies story.
You may of known I've drawn him before but I decided to update him a bit, giving his outfit a few tweaks (as both Crissor and Puppy are based more on the spotted hyena I decided to make him a striped hyena. Also, I'm sorry I can't stand drawing digitigrade, so I simplified his feet somewhat. It's not 'quite' plantigrade but still.
Anyways, enjoy the sketch of Daz Bangfang turning in his resignation to whoever commands his river raiding unit in the middle of a tavern. Cause if you gotta quit your day job, quit in style.
