This drawing took way too long to finish. The actual work on the drawing itself was pretty brief, but it was way too protracted over the last week or so for various reasons.

Anyways, after trying to make some half arsed backgrounds for the last couple of pics I did, I decided to take a leaf out of Dan Shive's book and try to create a decent background using Google SketchUp. After a bit of playing around yesterday, and liberal use of tutorial videos, I managed to throw together the bear bones of what you see here, which I then traced over in Paint Shop Pro so it wouldn't clash horribly with my character style. I'm rather pleased with the rsult, though I would have liked to have some kind of lighting effect in the recesses in the wall. Unfortunately I couldn't figure out a simple way to do this and my patience was wearing thin, so I decided to leave it there. For a first attempt at this, I'm very pleased.

As for the character, this is Dawn Blackpaw, a character I created for my (sprite) comic. This is the first time I've drawn her ever and, I must say, I'm pretty pleased with the results.

I shall try to get more drawings done and faster in the near future. Now that I know what I'm doing in Google SketchUp and how to handle them in PSP, it should be easier to create backgrounds for future drawings. :3
