Back near the end of 2008, I was approached by JoeyPoey, to work together on a portfolio project he wanted to release for AnthroCon and Morphicon 2009. (He was a guest of honor.)
I was really stoked since I had never collabed with anyone before, and my furry stuff has never been shown in printed form. The projects itself is way up my alley, cutesy cartoon animal chicks adorned with spreads of formidable graffiti work.
I gave it my best shot. I Redrew a bunch of gerbil characters until I got to one that I found appealing.
For the coloring, I was aiming for a party flyer type of look, thus the bright red and the grungey textures. I'm down to work with Joe in the future if he ever needs me again.
There may be some copies of the folio. You'll have to ask

Getting started is the hardest part. I usually just do crappy little doodles at first, until I gradually regain the momentum of drawing more often.
I go on AIM and talk to people, sometimes taking sketch requests or trades. It helps me in pinch. If you find me on AIM, I can doodle stuff for you, if you so choose.

i dunno i always have tons of ideas it seems, but then i feel like i wont be able to draw them properly cause i'm so rusty, and of course it perpetuates because i continue not drawing and feeling like i'm losing my abilities...etc etc!

Oh hi Panda. I'm optimistically betting that your rl situations have ironed themselves smooth these days.
I've never been to a big fancy con myself, if that was the kind of shindig you were referring to.
It's kinda a gamble for me to go since it's a huge wad of money to sink to mingle in a room full of strangers.
(Probably fun to go with a group of friends though.)
