In my State of Arkansas... our sex education was Abstinence and jokes about not getting involved with your own cousin. I would be offended but it was the easiest way to keep the runts in my class's attention, to joke. But condoms and such didn't get into conversations except as a foot note on page 142 in 2pt font buried in the watermark.

I think aside from the obvious sex being an issue I think maturity also has a role. You will grow and change as will your views of the world and the people in it. When i was 13 I dated a 17 year old and i realize now how much of a creeper he was XD (nothing ever came of that relationship)

yeah I personally got tangled up with someone claiming to be 18 but they were four years shy of it but was built like a small frame adult. She even had ID saying it. WHen I nearly went to court over it. I shown the parents her ID, had to snatch the purse out of her hands and dump it out to find it but when they seen the ID they had to closely examine it to even figure out it's fake and they know her. THey dropped every last charge with heartfelt apologies for what happened.
I remember I used to 'yiff' back when I was 16..... with people who knew I was 16. It didn't dawn on me back then, but I sure as hell would not even do that kinda stuff with people that age now, which makes the thought of those who would to it to a 16 year old me... a bit creepy

appropriate/non-creepy age discrepancy for dating: (n/2) + 7 where n is your age. ie: At 22, the youngest girl I could date without it being creepy would have to be at least 18 years old - (22/2) + 7 = 18

Oh god what an idiot. Granted I did not do this but things related to it. Glad I decided to wait it out now and am trying to get a friend to stop doing it. I'm also trying to avoid two people currently. One that wants to do this, and one that wants me to do this and does it himself. I did that when I was younger. Though I wasn't really lured into it, I was just curious. There were two guys, one was much older, by like 30 years, and another that was more like 10 years my senior. All of a sudden I realized it was a bit too much and told both of them I was uncomfortable, the older one understood and we just talked after that, sex never came up. The other guy said I was overreacting and that in the long run age wouldn't matter. I told him off.
I always like people that are older than me, but that's mainly because they appear younger than they really are. I'll think somebody is only 16, but then I check their page and I go "OH FUCK HE'S 25... AND GAY". I just have bad luck. Not that... Im really looking, and I would never date anyone from the net, but still. Usually a relationship tend to work if the persons involved are emotionally mature enough to know their own minds, regardless of their ages.
Then they have a sound basis to build it on, and "only" require good communication in addition.

Yeah. I'm not sure where you live, but in the US, 15 is still considered a minor. In a 36/50 relationship, both individuals have (in most cases) had ample time to mature and experience significant things in life. Not to say that some of those 15/21 relationships can't work, I just don't think it's very wise in many cases.

Back in the late 1990's I e-mailed an artist to comment on a picture in her VCL account. A quite explicit picture, I should add. She replied to my message, and seemed very happy that someone had commented on her art.
Over the next couple of months we exchanged friendly messages on an irregular schedule (only about two or three e-mails per month - neither of us were very good pen-pals). Then she mentioned that she would soon have lots of free drawing time since spring break was coming up, so I happily commissioned a picture from her - an adult-themed picture, of course.
I mailed the check, then e-mailed her to let her know that payment would be there in a couple of days. She thanked me for letting her know, saying that she would be sure to check the mailbox every day so that she could get my letter before her mother saw it.
I recall writing back a one sentence e-mail: "Before your mother sees it?"
Turns out she was 14 years old. I had been thinking college spring break. She had meant middle school spring break!

By just starting to think about joining in that meme I get a headache.. All the things from the past and all the broken dreams. Actually within the past few weeks I thought about how much I changed with growing age and how interesting it is to see friends and people around me change.
BUT since I suck at drawing (Another thing I wanted to learn when I was young) I rather not join in, but I realy love the Idea of the meme, it made me dwell in memories!

Oddly enough I have a friend who did the same thing. I didn't know her at the time but apparently she was "deeply in love" with some guy in his thirties and sent him $500 so he could take a plane and visit her. He never did (thankfully) and she realizes it was a mistake but she still has feelings for him apparently (even though she hasn't heard from him in years.)

I love you for this. SO many girls do this. I did it when I was 14. I never met him in person, thank geez. Oh and of course he acts mostly -mostly- brotherly (besides that flirting and SHIRTLESS pic, WTF) until I hit 16 (yeah I talked to him THAT long), and then starts talking about me coming to visit him and what not. I THOUGHT he was 23, and then found out he was about ohhhh 32? Stopped talking to him not long after...gah I was a dumbass. Yeah, a few years after this I was thinking back on it and went 'Oh my god he could have been on Dateline.'

I took a lot of risks online when I was growing up. I freely gave out my name, address, and sometimes my phonenumber. My grandfather was furious and threw out any mail I got for awhile (Which pissed me off because some of my friends and I would exchange art through snailmail ando ne was sending me stickers).
Even now when I'm 19 I still get asked "So how do you know this person?" when I get mail, even if it's just a package off ebay or something.
