Yeah, I used plenty of references, but all of 'em had to be somewhat modified for the pic XP I really wish I could have put more detail into the building in the background, but I always worry about putting too much detail in the background which then detracts from the character... There's so much I still have to learn where backgrounds are concerned. I also have a way harder time with perspective when drawing on the computer than when drawing traditionally >_<
GOD DAMN, the colouring on this is GORGEOUS!
If you don't mind me asking (I've been curious since the first), how exactly does the process for this differ from your regular styled pieces? Are you able to bypass steps that make it more speed efficient for you?
Whatever it is - I must commend you on how you've developed it throughout your beginning "painterly styled" pictures! This truly is the most detailed, eye-popping, and developed of all of them!
AMAZING

Thank you! I'm really glad all this experimentation is starting to pay off XP As for how I've managed to make this more efficient, it completely bypasses any flat colour stages. It's coloured almost completely on a single layer. I do the inks on the top layer, and underneath I fill the background with a colour which I use to set the mood (this was a dark turquoise colour). I paint directly on that layer and just use a separate layer if it's really needed. Otherwise I just add a few overlays here and there as well to add interest or contrast to certain areas. I basically colour this more like I would colour something traditionally... no masking or transparency layers or anything...
Like, holy crap. I certainly believe there's a psychic link to the world because I have been in the process of a large picture and I can't tell you how many elements between it and this are almost identical in subject and placing. It's creeping me out man e___e please don't think I copied your ideas when I finally post mine.
Also do you accept brush commissions without doing a bg for another artist to color and how much?
