Oh I wasn't bashing you or anyone. Well.....I was bashing the Tron movie, but I don't get the MLP thing. That was merely more of a question of curiosity. I mean like everyone in the fandom is showing it in some way just all of a sudden, and I'm trying to figure out where it came from.
There is a new MLP cartoon that started earlier this year called Friendship is Magic, done by Lauren Faust (one of the creators of Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends), that is extremely well done, such that people who were not previously interested in MLP are becoming fans.
Hmm, maybe I can help...a little anyways! Uh, I was never a fan of the old 80s series...heck I was a boy in the 80's, we watched GI Joe, Thundercats and Transformers AND LIKED IT! ^_^ But I was told bout this new series back in January. It IS based for kids, true...but, well, lots of good animation can be geared for one group, but be fun to watch for a larger audience. The woman who wrote "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends" and whose husband, created the "Power Puff Girls", is the one in charge of this MLP cartoon. I found it to be well written and fun characters...good ingredients for any show. Now...not saying YOU will love it...but eh, I found it fun and kinda became a fan. Easy as that! Hope this helps a teeny bit, or not, hehe ^_^
Ok now that is my thought process and i even told a friend of mine "I'm a kid of the 80's i want my GI JOE and Masters of the Universe come back not, Rainbow Bright and My Little Pony.", and I only saw the toys on the shelves and thought people where just liking the new toy line up. I may have to see where I can find the series to give it a shot. I mean I did like Fosters. But I was also one that scratched my head at the Powerpuff Girls. So who knows. I'm assuming YouTube has clips or something on it.
The new MLP is a lot like PowerPuff Girls to me; very tightly written, very tongue-in-cheek and multi-layered, and clearly intended for multiple audiences, but also not everyone's cup of tea. PPG was one of those things that I sometimes loved and sometimes just didn't get. MLP is sort of the same way . . . I see the appeal, and it definitely has episodes that got me "into" it, but there are plenty of things that just don't catch me. Foster's Home was way more my speed overall, but I see a lot of the same stuff in MLP and PPG that I did in it. They're just all differently focused, I guess. But all still awesome.
Yeah, and watching the behind the scenes of the original...HOLY SHITE the amount of work that went into EACH and every frame...wow. 6 layers of hand done stuff and 2 years in the making...classic story, nah, but damn fun movie to kick back to, since I saw the original in theaters hee.

Meh Never liked the original show much (still have the original MLP dolls from the 80's) and this new one is even more bleh because truthfully can't stand the art style of the new one (like it has been said, same as the power puff girls).

Oh well, eh, I never was a fan before this series myself...to each his own, eh? It's all good! ^_^ Say...hold onto those old ponies...I seen some at cons go for decent dough! I wish I had all my old 80's toys...damn my teenage self for playing with them! ^_^ Prolly why I collect toys now and am so picky bout it...I wrecked EVERY toy I had spectacularly...blowing them up, throwing off roofs, hammers, vice grips, heck I woulda used lasers if had access to em! ^_^
ha, Rinzler's only weakness, "he cant assimilate them all".
really cool, i hated he didn't get an epic blue moment rather then just falling in the water,
then changing, i dont want to see the main title character get brushed aside like that.
glad to see others who loved the film, i felt so alone watching a movie no one seemed to appreciate.

Tron never really caught my interest the same way Blade Runner did. I'd be interested to see a remake of that, but that could be a disaster if not done properly. Perhaps I could go watch both Tron versions someday just to do so.
As for the MLP craze, I find it a bit ironic in a funny way that some furries find it 'strange' and 'don't understand' why some people are into the ponies all of a sudden, yet many others wonder why some people are into furries. :P ... It's not something I'm interested in myself, but I'm not going to bash something that others enjoy (unless I truely... truely... hate something.. like the Ultraviolet movie... x.x)
