AC fundraiser Adoptable Auction - Gun-a-roo!
As of right now I don't have a room or any other type of reservation... mainly because until a week ago I was convinced I couldn't make it. After discussing a bit about it I realized I might just be able to make it if I play my cards right.
I already finished putting together a 70 page adult book filled with my most recent works from paysites and whatnot including a few selected older works that I particularly liked as well as the Mik image series that got me to start drawing her again after the year long lul without. I might take preorders later (hopefully with a discount) but that's for another time.
By the way the gun was a Mac 10. I can draw guns with clinical precision... but when I'm streaming I am not going to spend 3/4 the time making sure it's accurate when including it was just an afterthought!
______________________________________________________
As for the subject at hand... adoptable auction! I wasn't sure if anyone would be interested but I did get some feedback on her and I figured why not ^^
What character is for sale? This one, my iron wielding Kangaroo girl: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5821109
I'd like to think her as having a pouch of holding... only instead of hammers, she holds guns!
I made a few changes to the design to balance her out a bit and make her a little more roo like. Fixed the hair and etc etc... anything is subject to change should the winner chose!
Normal rules apply.
- You are bidding on a character design. An adoptable. This picture was created to serve as her reference and you may ask for and use the full sized versions of any image I created of her -which as of right now are two- as you wish. What you do with the design afterwards is up to you!
- No bidding unless you can pay up front in paypal.
- Try to bid after the highest bidders to keep things easier to keep track of. I'll delete any cluttering comments including repetitive nay-saying.... actual bids I will keep track of in a spread sheet and I'll try and keep the info area updated with the current highest bidder. Any comments made in response to a bidder that isn't from a bidder themself will be deleted at my discretion.
- Bidding ends tomorrow night at 10pm est, GMT -5. I'll extend it for three minutes for every bid made starting at 9:57 onwards until no more bids are made and I will be using furaffinity's timestamp as my stop watch.
Starting bid: $25!
Winner:maiza - $250

Yeah. I'm just sad it went to a (and there is 0 offense going to the guy. 0. Nada. Saying that before a flame war starts... again...) guy who's artwork is quite a few levels below your own and seems to only do porn. He still does decent work so at least she won't be wasted if, say, I bought her, but still. The comparisons and the fact that it was jacked from you at like, literally within less than an hour of finishing bid time... urgh. It makes me the sad.
No offense taken - I am admittingly only a rank-amateur when it comes to any art of any kind. I had honestly expected that Alvin would have out-bid me as I submitted before the snipe-timer and at least made a contest of it, but it seems circumstances made the timing difficult for him. Hopefully that helps avert the flame wars from flaring up again.
Regardless, I bid with the intention of using her for text-based RP - I have a friend who is quite fond of them. I may try to sketch her, but I'm more inclined to stick with outsourcing any work of her to the original artist, or if he's not available to someone of comparable quality to retain the integrity of her overall.

Please stop being incredibly offensive towards someone whose only crime was to buy a character design. You wouldn't walk into a games shop and start screaming at someone you didn't know just because they were paying two hundred bucks for an xbox, so there's no reason to do it online when someone's buying art. You're perfectly within your rights to consider it an unreasonable thing to spend money on, but you don't have the right to start being this offensive. Please either apologize, or if you can't manage that, just stop posting here.
After the essentials, people spend money to make life easier or to have fun. People spend money on dishwashers and washing machines because they're too lazy to do those jobs by hand. If he wants to pay skip the effort required to come up with a good character design, I see no problem there.
I'm too lazy to create videogames, so I pay somebody else to do it for me.
I worked as a Valet for a couple of years and made tips for doing my job, I lived off of those tips for the most part and saved my paychecks. Is it not the same idea? Sometimes I would get stupid amounts of money for doing hardly anything at all. Should I have put that money towards poor people or the bums that came up to the desk asking for cigarettes or money instead of spending it on myself or my family?
Yes the amount of money seems absurd but what about artists that sell in galleries and the paintings are thousands or tens of thousands of dollars?
Now I'm in the military and I get paid far less than federal minimum wage for how much time I put it but I'm not going to go up to somebody and tell them how to spend their money.
I understand it can be hard to see people toss around money when you have little of it yourself but, whatever, life goes on. Appreciate the money you make and how much work you put into making it. If you want to make more, put effort into finding a better job or going to school to learn a trade. It costs money to make money.
Did you also consider that maybe Tsam has had a hard time coming by money in the past and through hard work and effort to get better at their hobby/trade has allowed them to come into making money? So does he not deserve to make the money he does because of the work he put in in the past?
My two cents into a pointless argument.

Oh your wrist hurts? Oh I'm sorry. Hey have you ever fallen off a helicopter and broken your wrist while inhaling toxic chemicals after studying the mechanics of something so you can get qualified on it for 6 hours while having a severe deadline to meet in order to get five very shitty birds (helicopters) up and running in one week so you get pretty much no sleep for a week to make about $1700 a month while still having to pay rent and internet and water and electricity? No but clearly your wrist hurting from doing what you like is so much worse.
Just saying. When you work an ultra shitty job that you hardcore earned your money with, it's not fun being told "DUN SPEND YOUR MONIEZ THIS WAY DO IT LIKE THIS!" Hell if you work a job that's just fine for you it's still not fun to hear it. There are bigger issues to tackle than someone spending over $200 on a character. Like, oh, Pro sports players. Why should they make several millions for catching a ball when I make several thousands for working my ass off in shitty environments for 17 hours a day?
She mad because you obviously should work hard and spend it on the rest of the world who can't manage to support themselves, despite the fact that you probably worked plenty hard for your money.
I don't see how you are doing a bad thing here. Tsampikos needs money. You have money. You give Tsampikos money, Tsampikos gives you 'roo.
Tsampikos will then have money that he earned. You will then have a character that you paid for with money that you earned.
Fair's fair. :s

Indeed. And it's not like I can't do a few of my own commissions to make that money back.
I've seen collectors shell out insane amounts of money for practically worthless items. Like Pokemon cards. Pieces of card with a printed image on it selling for well over $1000. It's insane.
I've seen people pay well over $300 for commission auctions. I'd say $220 is quite lenient.

lol, for the love of god, let the guys spend his own money. He earned it, just like you earned yours, and he can do whatever he damn well pleases with it. You should be happy artists, like yourself, are making this kind of money. I highly doubt you'd be complaining if it was your character that was getting bidded on for this much.
and how can you assume that he didn't earn it? What exactly was the point of replying with this? and then the shut your face? lol. If you'd like to put it that way then fine, regardless if he 'earned' it or not it is his money and can do with it as he likes. He has no obligation to spend it on what other people think he should. :)
I just spent $150 on a tattoo. I've spent in total, $350 on tattoos, and I plan to spend a lot more. I work my job probably a lot harder than most people and get severely underpaid for it. I donate to charities and spend a lot on my friends to keep them happy, but I still find wasteful ways to spend my money. How do you know this man isn't helping out? Hell the computer I'm typing on cost me $1700. As he said, it's my money, I'll spend it how I want to. When you have to work 5 17-19 hour shifts every night working on god-damn helicopters for absolutely retarded Chiefs and Petty Officers, and sometimes on the weekends, and stand in one spot once every 4 days for 8 hours after working for god knows how long on something that could have been easily fixed if people would let you do your job the smart way, not the Navy way, and STILL come in on weekends sometimes, then you can whine about spending money.
Because lord knows he shouldn't help an artist in need or anything. You say people are poor and starving. Well what if Tsampiko's having a really hard time right now? He could be pushing so hard for this char because he
A. Wants it
B. Really wants to help Tsam.
What's ridiculous is that you are so close-minded you only see the money to be buying a char, and not all the other possible things it could TRULY be going to. Mind you he may just straight up be paying $220 for an adoptable and Tsam doesn't need the money, but who cares? He can waste it on that or he can waste it on booze or cigs or a bigger TV or etc. etc. We all waste our money on stupid useless shit. Let him decide how he's going to waste his money.
Ever bought McDonald's? You've wasted money. You don't NEED McDonald's because you can buy cheaper food in larger quantities from the store, but it's convenient and easy to get. Same thing for this adoptable. And if you say you haven't spent over $200 on a fast-food or similar type place, you are a liar good sir.

Sir I know how hard it is my girlfriend is an unknown artist I'm unknown in the game design industry I know the hardships of being unknown in the art world. But everyone starts there and you yelling like this won't help you at all people want to buy art from people they like so stop yelling about how much people spend and just congratulate the artist on being able to make some decent cash on what they love doing.
Ok, go ahead and stop right there.
>Poorly-Drawn
Uhh... his art is fucking awesome
>Pornographic
Ok so he automatically is never going to have do anything then furiously masturbate or get fucked by some huge-dicked dude? And you seem to bring up porn a lot. Do you have a moral issue with it or something?
>Not use fore more than few...
How do you know this? What if he ends up loving her and taking her into his full collection? She could appear a lot and have some great art pieces done of her. Your argument here is completely and totally based off assumptions here.
dude, tattoos are custom additions to your body! i can totlaly understand that! All of those are UNDERSTANDABLE and COMMON ways to spend your money.
dude, characters are custom additions to your imagination! Tattoos are nothing more than art, which you have forever. This is nothing more than art which he has forever. So because it's not common it's bad? Are you the nega-hipster? 0_0

I must agree. I get really upset with people that change their icons about every 3 mins (mainly because I look to that for remembering who is who but any ways), and that spend $ on having more made but it is their $, or their time, and they can spend and annoy me with it however they want.
Also had I $ I would throw down on your next tat, anything for those that server and do what I could not. Happy Memorial day.

XD Well it's appreciated none the less. But I wouldn't want you to pay for my next one anyway. I like to pay for them because it creates a 100% bond to me that way. I like my ink to all have stories behind them so that what implanted on me actually is part of me. No cliche angel wings on my back or anything =P
Besides I only have two more that I can think of wanting right now. One is very inside-joke like and the other is the squareheart symbol from
, but the squareheart will only cost like, $60 so, meh.
Inside-joke one however... yeesh. More like $700 XD
Gonna need to save for that one.

Ok wow ... that thread went forever O-O
I can see how some people think it's a waste, I can see how some people wish that sort of money would come their way. I mean hells yeah I wish someone had bought even one of my adoptables, but it's your money and you can spend it how you like. Plus, it's not like you're giving money to someone who is well off, Tsam is in a similar position to a lot of people here and in our world, just getting by and doing what they can to make monies.
I wish one day to get this much money out of my hardwork so I'm happy that there are people like you still out there who value art and creativity so highly =3
I mean, his adoptable auctions always blow me away! I wish I had that much spare money as at the end of the fortnight I don't have any money left over at all :/ But there are always people worse off and better off than yourself =3
I think Floebean is just mad because he works so hard and doesn't get nearly as much for his stuff. I don't either, but it was really bad of him to get so mad at a stranger :/
I hope you enjoy her and care for her! It seems that you may be her new master soon =3

I have to admit... every time I see you reply to a submission of mine I always wonder if there is an LJ thread about me somewhere - lol. Thanks just the same! Contrary to popular belief though the hair it isn't inspired by Laura Croft. Being an Aussie and all (Roo!) I figured more people would say Kid from Chrono Cross but then again I seem to be the sole fan of that game (not that I believe anyone can be fans of Tomb Raider!).
Aw, I'm sorry. I'm just a watcher of yours because I always liked your smooth, sleek style, and every once in a while I like to compliment stuff people make. I don't talk much otherwise.
I actually didn't even consider either of those, even though I grew up with Tomb Raider when it was a big new thing and I own Chrono Cross. I agree Kid fits the description a bit more though, with the messy hair and all! And nah, I know people who love Chrono Cross, but it admittedly wasn't my favourite. I just couldn't get into it and found it a drag to play (like I had to actively make myself play it). It had awesome music though.

Lol @ people getting their panties in a bunch over stuff like this.
You can't go around telling people how to use the money they earned no matter what state the rest of the world is in. You'll just end up looking like a holier-than-thou douche. I wouldn't spend my money this way, but who am I to tell someone else they can't?
Not to mention a lot of these artists do what they do full time after spending years establishing a presence in the community. Not sure if that's Tsampiko's case, but, you know. Too many people don't take into account that this is a job just like any other.
...also a gun-wielding kangaroo chick is REALLY badass.

I really wouldn't spend this much money on an adoptable either.
BUT I'm pretty damn happy to see an artist make bank for once. Really tired of seeing artists in this fandom slave over a picture for hours just to get 5 bucks. It'd be GREAT to see other less popular artists get some love as well though. People should be worried about the art, style, and quality, not the name attached to it.
I can easily admit I'm completely jealous. I'd be crazy not to be, but it gives me a goal to strive for if I plan to try an artist freelance career for good.
Tsam, I hope you enjoy EVERY penny of the money you make off this and come to Anthrocon to have yourself a good old time. Don't let people and their bitching effect you.

Ya know, people are gonna complain about these adoptable things, but tbh.. I see a lot of digital works of characters the artist made up and people buying those digital paintings for upwards of a thousands, at least with an adoptable if you have the creative drive to use them, they are much handier and come in use more so then just a painting you can print and hang in your house and just stare at. At least you can REUSE an adoptable.
Eeeep! I didn't mean to be offensive. ^^;;; I was discussing this with AC earlier that day (which had stemmed from a conversation on copyright and such) and we were trying to figure out if like... the winning bidder would have to register the character as a commercial mascot or if they would just take ownership of the design through a contract or if there was no set documentation between the artist and winning bidder.
Really wasn't trying to get involved up in the big argument from earlier on the page (which I noticed as scrolling down to this reply. D: Oh dear!) I do not think there is anything wrong with character design sales, I just wondered how they worked out legally. ^^;

Argh!Too rich for my tastes!(at least at this point and time anyway)I hope you run something like this again when I can afford to at least put up a fight for one of your character designs=).Its a shame,Theres something about this roo girl that makes me just want to pick up and hug her(even if that might result in me getting a broken arm from her)
Don't drama people. Tsampikos is just famous. That's why prices are so high I think.
The art is good, but not really so creative. I mean it's a simple character. But it's one created by this artist. It's maybe why the price is so expensive.
I've made a auction too : http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5779181/
With 4 other pictures and change allowed. You see, not the same price ^^' Not because of the skill I think.. but the popularity.
But it's just like this. And i'm glad that Tsampikos have enought poplularity for making this.

Oh nooo people are going to spend their money on a design instead of minding poor people and it's several hundred bucks HOW DARE THEY
Dude, clearly some people neither have an idea on the prices in the open market (for a character design), nor do they realize that people are entitled to the money they've made (and that bitching about it won't get them anywhere)
THAT ASIDE I think it's a pretty nice and clean design.
Something I like about your designs a lot if that they aren't cluttered with tons of eyesoring colors and useless crap, but that they got their well designed highlights regarding colors and accessories
allas, good luck on the auction!

You people will probably start killing each other x3 It's like on Turkish market here, and believe me, I was there xD
Too bad I don't have a single dollar, since I have absolutely different type of money and changing for dollars these days is really bad idea x3
The gun-a-roo is absolutely great! Worth a kill for sure

your work is amazing nuf said... im realy happy to see artists still getting good money out of stuff they worked really hard on, inspire's me to actually do something more with my work and i don't mean to do it for the money! :P! im not sure if some one said it already but sometimes a simple design is the best design!
Love your work Keep it up, for i wish to see more! .....and now i shut up....

You don't deserve the bullshit you get on selling your characters and art.
More power to you that you can get that much money for your work.
The butt hurt people just need to move on.
The people that want to spend there money should do so.
No one should say otherwise..
I hope whatever is bid will get you to where you need to go.
Beautiful work as always..<3

While I do think it's weird for people to pay so much for an adoptable, it's stupid that this seems to happen every time you put one up for sale. You're not doing anything wrong.
I'm going to recommend you consider doing this off FA (but linking to it). Maybe on thedealersden (a proper auction site), or by taking bids privately and updating a counter, or doing it on LJ, or.. well, there's lots of ways. But if I were you, I'd be long tired of the squabbling by now. People are jealous you're making money, but it's so rude to complain about it here to try to drive away business.

I agree fully with Kayla, there has to be a better way of doing this so you can
avoid these massive and petty disputes. It's disrespectful to your customers and
it's disrespectful to you. I wonder why people even watch someone if their sole
purpose is to complain about how good or popular you are.

It really does come down to jealousy in this instance. Hell, I'm jealous. I'd love to be able to make this kind of money with an adoptable. But I can't, I usually can't even get small commissions.
But how is that Tsampikos' fault? It's not. It is so incredibly nasty and ugly for people to actually come and bash the whole thing right on the art because of it. But people nowadays seem to be missing a lot of common sense filters from their brain to their mouths (or fingers) that tells them when to keep their opinions to themselves.

You know... I don't want to say anyone's outright jealous though it may be both true
and/or obvious in the instance, but what it comes down to is respect. This isn't how you
treat people, clients or artists.
If your first move is to attack then you've made a misstep.
To say Tsampikos can't sell his art at what it's worth (and it's worth what people will pay)
is in my mind a repression of rights generally and degrades us all as artists. Not everyone
can make that amount of money, but to say something he does isn't worth it when someone
is willing to buy it is to continue to put other artists at a baseline market. I think his higher
values do a SERVICE to the rest of us as artists and the time we put in rather than the
disservice that $5-$10 dollar prices do. It's the same thing with many industries including
graphic design where you can have kids or young adults undervaluing themselves and
having clients say "Why would I get your (a professional's) work when I can buy it from
this kid and get all the gradients and raindrop effects I want for cheaper!"
And I think that's why I'm offended by people attacking what his art is going for.
Even my fiancé (who doesn't like anthro art generally) will state very clearly, "Art is worth what someone is willing to pay."

man some people are just buttholes (read previous comments up) this character looks mighty lovly, and I hope you get alot for it, cause it is well deserved , If I had any money to bid, I totally would I still want a character from you at some point, anyway I love her hair and her ears alot, thanks for sharing~
Oh, hello. So you are the one that bought it? Well, I do hope you can find some use for the character. I mean, to me it'd just be a waste of good money that I'd rather use on purchasing physical things--perhaps a new tablet or a Smartphone? But, whatever.
While I do agree with your statement, I think what you're referring to has more to do with original designing and inventing rather than owning something original, but I see what you meant anyways.
