Hi! ^^
Well, lol, it's actually a combination of things:
1) I used an SLR instead of a point and shoot. This means the sensor and lense are bigger which means more light penetration and a more vivid photo.
2) I bought a lense with a lower f-stop number (ie. wider apapture) than the stock lense. It goes down to 2.8 f-stop.
3) I didn't use flash--I find it distorts the colors and contrast.
4) I manually adjust the camera options according to the environment--so, it's not totally on automatic.
5) I bumped up the color saturation settings in the camera image options.
6) Possibily I adjusted the image a bit using the RAW file in Photoshop. I don't remember.
7) On the computer, I shrunk the image and converted it to the sRGB color gambut. (Webrowsers, most computer screens, programs, etc. do not display colors accurately if the color gambut is anything else except sRGB. I used Photoshop to adjust the gambut. If I simply uploaded the image without adjusting it, it would look washed out.
8) Well, Rainbow Dash is quite colorful to begin with. ;3 ^^
And, that, is how I did it. ^_^

I knew it was something simple
Cool just wondering, everything digital it done prior to this (MFF) was outdoors so using a camera at a con for the first time was kinda a nightmare - agreed in the since that I hate using flash, and auto setting only go so far (standard auto focus was useless on my camera doesn't know how to track fur). Just seeing how other people get good pictures. I think the biggest thing I'm missing at this point is having people pose- I've always preferred candid shots but I would need a much better camera to get action shots in the low lighting without flash. I'm guessing some additional adjusting in Photoshop too, I have a polarizer and IR filter and don't get results like that. Thanks for the response! and Love the photo. Not only is Dash colorful took me awhile to realize that was tinsel in the yellow giving off that shine/ sparkles in most pictures. Thanks Again!
