Sorry it's so long, I tried to be succinct, but I wanted to make sure to be specific and include all the info.
Also ugh I forgot to spellcheck I hope everything is okay :I
Just to kind of disclaimer myself this is just my "fast" method of coloring; it seemed easier to explain and honestly it's what I get the most questions about.
Will add links to lineart files soon.

Very nice tutorial! I may try a few of those steps!
I have a trick to clean up line art as well that's probably much faster... however, it uses a bit of Illustrator. You'd be impressed how the "Live Trace" function can be used to clean up lines in no time at all.
Also, since I'm silly and put all of my block colours on one layer, my method of selecting the lines is a little different than yours. What I do is use the magic wand to select all of the negative space in the image (shift+click to get all of the holes), then once all the negative space is selected, I choose "Invert Selection" so that now, only the figure(s) are selected.
But yeah... there's a lot of stuff I really like about this guide that I really should try.

WOW!
And to think...all these years I've done things the hardest way possible! ^^;
I've always done a base color and then select a darker or lighter shade of the same color and proceed to color in shadows and highlights. Pretty much doing exactly what I'd do in real life if I were painting a picture. Goodness...now I feel like an idiot for never bothering to look to see if the program could simplify things XD It also doesn't help my Photoshop teacher never taught me anything...but still, the blame falls on me for not thinking outside the box.
Thanks so much for making this! You've completely changed the way I approach coloring. I might actually color my artwork more now since it won't be such an enormous pain in the ass! XD

Wow. I loved how you explained WHY things did what they did- a lot of tuts don't do that.
I faved this and will be giving it a try. Photoshop has never wielded super-great results from me and I think it's because there's just SO MUCH TO IT- it can do all the things SAI can do, but you have to take a lot more steps to get there (settings and stuff). I've tried to get better results in SAI, too, to no luck, so now with this in hand I might toodle on back to PSCS2!
Thanks so much for your help <3
