Well, not so much Fur With Cream as it is Ponies With Cream. Once again, ponies take over my comic strip and invade it with their cuteness. But is it cuteness all that's about them? With the craziness in the fandom (and the show itself, to be perfectly honest) it's not difficult to twist these characters into the dark side. But I digress. This is just about the Mane Six watching Watership Down. Because it has bunnies in it. How bad can it be?
The Image:
I wrote the script for this right after watching Watership Down for the first time. That movie is fucking brutal. The story is simplistic yet the characters have depth and are very well written, and it doesn't save in violence and blood. For an animated movie starring bunnies, there are more killings than in Black Hawk Down (mostly). It makes the story about how this movie hit the US even funnier. I just imagine the parents renting this movie with the cutesy looking cover only to discover how brutal it was. Wrong advertisement is as bad as false advertisement (if not the same).
For those of you who followed me from Equestria Daily this may not be new, but I just wanted to share this with all my watchers. I linked the drawing to my blog and there I noticed the amount of traffic that website gets. Holyshit. No wonder Sethisto divided his efforts with Phoe and Cereal Velocity. Managing that website must be insane.
Also, important note. I wrote and drew this before The Discord Episodes, so that de-coloured Fluttershy is NOT Flutter-Bitch. Don't get confused ;3 She's just shocked after watching the movie, not de-harmonized.

Funny thing, the original cover is SO much better and more appropriate.

I actually wanted to like it, because it's a classic of war movies and films in general. It's a film regarded with respect for its quality and the amazing performances, and the iconic scene of the raid at the start of the film. But it's one of those movies everybody loves and I just can't get. I have many, and that's okay. There's a ton of people who love that film, and that's fine.
I watched a few minutes of watership down at Rainfurrest earlier this year, and it creeped me the hell out. So, lacking any good sense, I'm renting the thing to watch it in its entirety. I swear, that is one movie that should have the words "NOT FOR KIDS" on the front in big bold type.
About how I expected the ponies to act in regards to the movie, though.

I'm trying to think of an experience I had like that...I swear I once judged a book by the cover only to be traumatized!
Oh...maybe it was my initial reaction to "Cupcakes," where I thought "It's just Pinkie killing Dash, no one else," only to find out the brief little Gilda bit.
...
*cries in a corner* Gildaaaaaa~ Dx

I think I did the same thing with Cupcakes, but mostly because I didn't expect it to be a gore fest.
I like Gilda too, but for completely unrelated reasons >_> I see the potential she has as a character, if only the writing team could expand a little bit more on her.

It's a really awesome show. Compared to other more classic shows it can stand a good while (the writing is amazingly good). But compared to other shows for kids we've seen lately, this show is a miracle. It's a much needed breath of fresh air in the animation horizon.

Well, its bit of fridge brilliance for me.
As a kid, I HATED the movie and book. As a teenager I watched the cartoon and thought okay about the book and movie.
But now I see its brilliance. The Author really devised a world from the view of a rabbit. Beginning with their deity/jesus figure, El-Ahreiah (or somthing like that), also called the Prince with a Thousand Enemies. Its a genius touch, because think about it. We humans are on the top of the food chain and have no natural enemies. So our religions kind of reflect that by telling us to show compassion and not kill others.
Thats not what worries bunnies. From their point of view everyone is after them, and thats kind true. So their Hero/messiah is a trickster, being the best digger (TTGL joke lol), runner and hider, and inspiring his people to be as him so they can survive.
THe author also created a whole new language for the bunnies, and he manages to get the point across that these ARE rabbits, not humans in rabbitform. They don't understand basic physics like floating on water (except the few who think outside the box), distances are longer for them and stuff we take as mundane are big obstacles for them. Also things like cars are not machines to them but animals.
