That's not really all that true either. Japanese forces were ordered to exterminate communist forces outright, they had conflicts and the greater fighting of the nationalist forces. However, while the US supported the nationalist forces, the other ally of the US at the time... the Soviets gave the communist forces left over Japanese weapons, and other aid. So really, the allies were never really clear cut on who they were allied with there. Course, the Soviets were far far more proactive about setting up for the post war than the rest of the allies~
