At one point when I was drawing and coloring Ponies Are Resilient, I had the idea to depict Pinkie's fourth-wall breakage, as seen here.
Ultimately I decided against it because I thought it was a little too graphic. That is, a little too graphically confusing. I wasn't sure how well the joke would work.

I like the idea better, but the issue for me is the actual crack. I would have overlaid a texture of a real crack(plenty at cgtextures.com) and maybe lowered the opacity depending on how the final result looked. Also, kept the crack within that panel, since a crack in a window generally stays within its own section.
4 days seems too short of a healing time, although much longer would have allowed her to finish the book. Not sure how long she was supposed to stay grounded, though. That IS just hospital time, after all.

Yeah! I should think losing her horn (like, more seriously/permanently than this cartoon suggests) would be devastating. If there are any fanfics about that, I don't want to read them, because I don't care for that level of sad. I'd like to think that if her horn really did break off, she could go visit Princess Celestia, who would know a powerful spell to make it reappear good as new.
Although, given that we saw the spa ponies filing Rarity's horn, it seems like it might grow back on its own. Still, how long would that take? A year? Even that would be devastating to Twilight, I should think!
