I've been working for a couple months on this piece of wearable artwork. I wasn't confident enough to do Blue, so I did my very first fursuit head for my kitsune character instead. I waited to post anything till now because I just installed the eyes and fixed the jaw, so except for the neck, she's complete!
There are a lot of things I will fix with any heads I make in the future, some things about this I'm not happy with, but over all, I'm impressed with how much I've gotten done and how well it works. I'm proud of myself.
The base of this is plastic canvas stitched together with string. Over that is 1" foam. I cast the eyes with EasyCast resin and hand painted them. The nose is hand sculpted from a craft clay called Pluffy and painted black with acrylic paint. The teeth and tongue are a sort of craft foam since I didn't feel too confident sculpting them as well. The black around the eyes and in the mouth is felt and the whole of it is put together with low-heat hot glue.
Yes, some of this goes against good advice as far as durability and what not... but I'm not looking for this to last forever. Its a first try, to work out technique and discover difficulties. I know better for next time. ^_^
Next step after the neck piece is gloves! Hoping to make her debut at Midwest Furfest this year.
