rnixon's otter girl Haukena, a fertility shaman, pregnant and offering thanks to the sunset.
Original is quite big and detailed, so i'll post a cropped close-up in a few minutes and a larger size version over at deviantArt later (will edit this to include links).
Colour took a good deal longer than i thought it would, but was worth it.... ^_^
Ink 11 x 17
digi version 4491 x 6336 pixels
Checkout the other nifty Haukena pics in rnixon's gallery:

i must say that i am truly amazed at the beauty of this peace
the line and fur detail are very smooth and flowing
everything from the water to the hair to the amazing balance figure fit well and come together to make a beauty picture
you truly know what it means to draw art in every since of the word

Your wonderful drawings of Haukena were my main reference for this! You drew her so cute - difficult or impossible to equal - so i took a slightly different approach...just sort of draw her in one of my styles and hope for the best...
Thank you so much for the inspiring drawings! ^_^

There is a lot of bad art out there, commissioned or otherwise....But i don't think commissioned automatically equals "nice surface but soulless"...Veramundis, Drake Fenwick, etc....i've just started taking commissions, but it's a way to challenge my abilities and mood to flex my range, so to speak....my first sketch for this pic was a bit more sombre - rnixon said, no, she's not a "serious" sort of character - Likewise lighter mood for some commissions in progress....
i know do quite a bit of fluff on my own, but the graphic stories/comix/whatever i'm working on behind the scenes are rather grim...so much of what surfaces here is me taking a break from the betrayals and deaths...
i was doing gift art and collaborations earlier, like Rebby and the Frostpaws pics, this seems to me to be a continuation of that - doing commissions for awhile - but only ideas that stike me as challenging or fun or cute etc....This Haukena project won me on how cute the character was and the scene of summoning elemental magic, as it were....classic fantasy, cute, a bit of silliness...

Still one of my faves ! It was a traditional inking, 11 x 17 in - and all the strands of hair, fringe, bowls of fruit, flowers, etc were penciled in different colours on separate sheets of paper so that i could position them using my light board - otherwise i could never have kept track of what was what !
