Loincloths Galore:Different Ways o/Protecting te Family Jewe
Eleven styles of loincloths, featuring my model Hank, the Generic Wingless Dragonman
Which one is your favorite?
1.) Krayne's LC. Similar to the one the Iksars wear in EverQuest. I guess you would have to have a long tapered cloth thats much wider at the back, pull the back around front and tie to the ring, then pull the front up between legs and spread out to sides, and then somehow secure it to the belt without it comming out the top (I havent figured that part out yet)
2.) Two part drape cloth. Take one long narrow heavy but soft cloth about twice the circumfrance of your waist, then wrap it twice around your waist ending above your butt. Take another cloth about the same width and weight as the first, about three feet long, and pull it up under the belt cloth in the back with a few inches coming out the top. Tuck those inches under the belt cloth makng sure it tucks tighly against it (this is the spot where the loose end was on the belt cloth, and the main one holds it down.) Then pull main cloth between legs, tight up under the belt cloth and make sure cock and balls are comfortably secure. Then drop the remaining length down the front and tighten out any wrinkles. I can see how this would be WAY trickier with a tail, you'd need help probably
3.) Roman gladiator style LC. Take a regular belt and wear it around waist so that it rests on your hips. Then take a rectangle of cloth (For this one a standard single size pillowcase works great(if you're thin)) and secure it under belt at back. Pull the corners tight around your hips and waist so they come around front just a little bit, then take the back and pull it between legs and under belt. Pull corners around towards the back, covering the other two corners, then roll up the cloth right between the legs so that it makes a nice pouch and doesnt dig in to your thighs. Make sure tailhole is cut at appropriate spot in back before starting any of this
4.) Narrow belted LC. A lot more secure than the last one, take a long rectangle of cloth (a King size pillowcase works great) and fold the long edges in a few times to make it like one long pouch. Then take a belt, put it on tight with buckle in front, then take your cloth and with the folded side facing in, pull it up under the belt and tuck it around and under the buckle in front. Then roll the whole belt forward, rolling the cloth up two or three turns and pull down tight leaving about a foot to a foot and a half (depending on how tight you want it) hanging down in front. Then take cock and tuck it forward and down, then take cloth and pull it backbetween legs up over butt and under belt. It is at this point that you can cut or tear the split for the tail. Then tuck last few inches under belt to secure. I find this one stays on very well and is quite comfortable
5.) Falini-esque LC. Similar to the second one, just tie a string around your waist then take a small narrow strip of cloth, roll it up around the back, tear a tailhole, then pull it between legs up front under string with the last little bit torn off and hanging down as shown.
6.) Two peice belted hanging. Just take two tapered peices of heavy cloth and hang em under belt as shown.
7.) Primitve, Tarzan style cartoon LC. Basicaly just torn cloth with no visible seams or securement method
8.) Furry LC, Yay! Basically the same as #3, except with a fur instead of a cloth.
9.) Breechclout Combo LC, sorta native-south-American style. Pretty much combine 2 and 3 with a little bit of stylish edging on the brechclout in front.
10.) Psuedo-Egyptian style LC. Take a large cloth where the short end is wide enough to get around your waist and tie off, and the long end is only a little longer. Tie the corners of the short end around your waist with a simple double knot then roll up the corners on the hanging end so that it tapers to a narrow end. Then pull that end beetween legs, up the front and under the knot, then roll up remainder around the knot in front.
11.) Simple tied-at-the-sides LC. Take a cloth a little larger than a single size pillowcase (it's a stretch even with a 30 waist) and simply tie the corners together as shown.
Im sure i'll think of more
If you ask why I keep mentioning pillowcases, it is because it is what I wear for many of these. For lack of any better cloth, and because they are nice and heavy and theres two layers, they are very comfortable and versitile. King size works great for the hanging ones and single size works great for the tighter ones.

Favourites: 5 and 10 :) i do use a different style myself, though - http://rubberfurs.org/user/leinir/g.....h-01-front.jpg - just a rectangular piece of material (here rubber) held up by a belt (should be rubber, but i didn't have any rubber rope ;) ).
*giggles* It -is- actually rubber, but kind of a scrap piece - it was made to test if making the pattern was possible, not to actually make a nice piece of sheeting ;) i do like the loose, flowing stuff, that is - either my bits need to stay -very- in place, or not at all, big fan of skirts too, so that's why i like the tighter loincloth styles here too :) (love loincloths of any sort, really, just highlighted a couple :) )
4 and 5 are probably my faovirtes. Hmm.. Is "falini" an actual term for the one shown in 4? Reason I ask is because I have two characters who wear something similar, though all this time I've just been referring to them as mokko fundoshis, since I don't know what else to call them.
Few artists put that many thoughts into that.
I usually draw them only covering the front and sometimes with some scale plate armor.
Plates alone can be fun too http://marsuwai.deviantart.com/art/.....hadir-88650147
I agree that loincloths in most cases look better than pants, more occasion for showing dynamic of movements and more space for imagination.
