WII GAME OF THE WEEK: Rabbids go home
Genre: action
I’m sure most of you know what the rabbids game series is about: minigames. So when a full-fledged action game featuring the crazy rabbids was announced I can say I was quite surprised and intrigued, even if not fully sure if it would work.
Though I have to say it, this game really blows away the previous ones ^^ so now I’ll explain you why.
The graphic look of the game presents itself in a nice way. It won’t go for supr detailed textures and visuals, it prefers to go for a simple style, both for the models and the backgrounds. The thing actually works though, the levels are never repetitive visually-wise and you’ll have quite a few backgrounds to go into. The models of the rabbids are a bit better than the party games ones, while their animations are as crazy as ever and will probably make you smile more than once.
The humans will probably remind you of the Mii’s for some reason, simple, silly beings to torture during the levels X3 overall the graphic look is nice to see, simple and cute and works very well with the game.
The game setting is as simple as crazy it is: the bunnies seem to like to sleep on round glowing objects in fact you can see them sleeping on lamp poles at the start of the game. The problem is that there aren’t enough poles for everyone! Perhaps though if they reach the gigantic glowing ball that is the moon they’ll have enough room for everyone. So grabbing a trolley two rabbids go along with a musical band into the city of humans to take every object they can get their paws on to build a huge pile and finally reach the moon!
This is the crazy premise of the game ^^ the gameplay will let you run with your trolley around different levels, picking up objects, animals, clothes while causing chaos in the streets. You can notice a bit of katamari influence here, just without the growth :3
In the levels you’ll find objects scattered around and just running by them you can pick them up…in many occasions you’ll have to grab animals too, squids, crabs and even entire dogs! Don’t think the rabbids are powerless though, they have two ways to defend themselves…the rabbid scream, wich will be used to defend yourself from the germinators and their dogs and the turbo boost wich can be used for both ramming into enemies or things blocking your way and have an additional boost for certain jumps.
The rabbid scream also haves a different use…it can be used on garbage bins for example, to make a lot of objects come out of it or on the scared humans, so that you’re able to leave them in underwear and steal their clothes X3 I find really fun how the humans run around and try to hide in closets or ontop of trees, poles and other stuff in the levels ^^
Now, more details about the battle sessions…the main enemies of the game are the germinators and their dogs. Many times during the level they’ll corner you into a sort of inflatable ring to battle you. There are a few kinds of germinators, some more or less dangerous, but most of the time I didn’t find too many troubles beating them up and stealing their clothes, forcing them to panic around and let me free >:3
More about the level themselves now: the main target of every level is a LARGE object to get at the end or at a certain point of the level so that it can be added to the huge pile of stuff to reach the moon. Depending by the object involved the gameplay of the level changes slightly…a good thing is that just a few objects repeat trough the game and every time they give something new to offer to the player so that the gameplay never gets repetitive…a couple of special examples are the engine of an airplane that will let you go trough a race toward the end ontop of the engine, ramming into objects and humans who will scream at the top of their lungs while clinging to the huge thing. Or another (very funny) object: an entire hospital bed with a sick person on it, trapped in an isolating bubble that will make you able to float around and execute long jumps :3
The humour of the rabbids make everything even better…more than ever in this game, the rabbids seem to take a charm they just slightly hinted at in the previous games, it’s like they finally found their home for real! The story, as you can expect is simple and almost not there, though you’ll notice a few very simple and very silly sub-plots during certain levels that will probably make you smile more than once. Also, without spoiling anything, this game haves one of the silliest endings ever, wich is good X3
The soundtrack is based on either existing songs heard trough the levels (like from the speakers of a super-market or from radios scattered around) or from the trumpet-based soundtrack that the rabbids themselves play, giving them their own style of music, a music that fits their life style X3
Th game itself is not long and can be finished in 2/3 days, but it’s certainly a very good game, proving that ubisoft is starting to put some real effort into wii games…somehow this makes me feel better about the upcoming red steel 2, it could pull off as a good game ^^ I suggest it to all the ones who enjoyed the previous rabbids game (since this one is 10 times better) and to the ones who are seeking for a silly game without any dark theme and who just want to have a nice time with a smile on their face ^^

Great job on this Wiikly news report! I look forward to your future ones! Keep up the awesome work! =3
I'm playing it right now and it's awesome =DDD
No.
No effing Way.
Plus it has online multiplayer with friends AND the old custom track building options(that are shareable online no less!).... O.O;;
I am getting that right away!! XD
Seriously though, I want to see Ubisoft bringing focus back to him at some point. Rabbids are fun and all but it seems since the first Rabbids game Ubisoft has been wanting less to do with Rayman, now he's not in this game at all, not even a cameo.
Anyways, if the game's price reduces a bit, I might get Rabbids Go Home. I admit I'm on the fence about getting it, but it could be a good bit of fun if I give it a try. I've been playing the hell out of New Super Mario Bros Wii though and I love it, I expect nothing less than a stellar review of it when you do that one, Sparky :3 (and hopefully a great and cute pic to go with it.. Sparky Mario going Macro after using a Mega Mushroom? XD)
