Update 18 Nov 2009 (Big Bonfire of Jobseekers Documents)
Hi everyone, RipRoarRex here.
I start this update with some good news. I'VE FINALLY GOT A JOB!!!
It's been four very long months since I graduated from uni and with unemployment as bad as it is in Britain during this economic recession, I've really been struggling just to get a foot in the door with my first graduate job - "worst time to graduate for twenty years" and all that.
However, some of you may have noticed I've been a little bit quiet on occasions lately. A couple of weeks ago, I applied for a graduate job as a Marketing and Sales Executive and was offered an interview. I came out of it feeling somewhat indifferent about my performance, only to be invited back for a second interview. This stage involved preparing a marketing plan which was a little bit daunting and tricky for me, but I managed to formulate something reasonable and presented it at my second interview earlier this week. Again, I came out unsure what to make of my performance and fairly confident that - as with other interviews I had recently had - I would simply lose out to a better applicant...
Lo and behold, I get a call out of the blue this morning offering me the position, starting next week!!!
I'm feeling a rather bizarre mixture of emotions and feelings this evening. Part of me feels like I'll wake up tomorrow morning and discover there's been some hideous misunderstanding or that I just imagined that entire phone conversation! At the moment, I'm shocked and delighted that I've finally got my first job, excited (and mildly terrified) about the prospect of starting next week, and also a little concerned about how I'll be getting there (still need to get myself a new car sorted after the accident). I think more than anything else though, I'm just relieved to know that in this difficult economy, I'll be going into the Christmas period earning a wage (and a respectable one too) and not worrying about that gap on my CV getting any bigger.
*wipes brow*
Not too sure what this will mean for me getting much artwork done (not that I've posted any for bloody ages now), but I've gotta have my priorities right! We'll see what happens once I've settled down into the new routine.
Just to give an update on what I have been working on:
1. The TMNT paw-worship comic - progress has come to something of a halt on this. Part of the problem is that I suddenly discovered that the central image looked much sexier if I rotated it by quite a significant angle, but this then affects the accuracy of the perspective on the linework. As such, I haven't quite worked out what to do with it. Sadly, even when I do finally make my mind up, there are still 2 or 3 more panels to do which I haven't even started yet. Could still be a fair old while, this one.
2. Something vorish with Skyra - This one is hard vore so it won't be to everyone's tastes (pun somewhat regretfully intended). I know I only did some Skyra vore as recently as April, but the mood really took me again recently and I started sketching something which I'd like to finish. The mood has worn off a bit what with all the preparing for job interviews and such lately, so I'm not too sure how long it'll take before I get this done either.
On the side, I'm also hoping to continue the Hux stomping animation I started a while back, though that is a major project which I wouldn't expect to be finishing any time this side of Spring 2010. But you never know.
Anyway, that's all for now. I'm off to make preparations for next week. Wish me luck!!
Best wishes,
RRRex
