Arrr Midfur, what a glorious and outrageous event it was! Including a rather smashing ending ....
Lets start from the beginning shall we??
Thursday 3rd Dec:
Got up nice and early at Crazys brothers house to ensure we were ready in plenty of time as to not miss the flight!! Got a lift to the airport a good 1/2hr before boarding, dropped off our bags and proceded to get some morning noms! XD I had an expensive ham and cheese crossiant, which was supposed to be toasted, but was rather icy cold in the middle >.> After noms, we went through security gates and I get chosen for the random bomb/ drug check thing they do....-_- Went up stairs to board the aircraft and before long we were ready for take off! I'd only been in a plane like that once before, and once in a 4 seater one. I think i prefer the bumpier small ones to the larger type. Oh! and on the topic, the week before midfur I got to go in a Helicopter for a ride XD it was good fun! (photos will be up of that too!)
Anywho, we got to Melbourne, waited for ages for out bags to come through, grabbed a skybus and proceeded to the Hotel.
We got there around lunch time, checked in and went upstairs to unpack. We then headed to QV to grab brekky food, milk, utensils and of course, Booze!
After that we got our Rego neck thingies said hello to some peeps, crusied around the dealers den to see what was on there then headed upstairs for a rest. Later on I went back down to the con to give badges to some people and was told that the con area was closing because someone had stolen the Midfur X poster from last year... (which was framed and worth quite alot of money as it was auctioned last year!) My first thought was they are over reacting becuase a member of the staff probly took it for a joke or maybe moved it elsewhere... its a huge poster and would easliy be taken outside the hotel.
I then headed back up stairs to tell crazy that it was closed for the time being and wont be open until the 'cocktail party'
Night starts to fall and everyone is out side awaiting entrance to Bobby Magees. Due to the theme of "Midfur at the Movies" there was a red carpet and weird looking security people, and rather umm..domintaing volunteers? (in other words, some were rude) and the cast of Actfur making a show and talking to some people as we walked in. I got talked to, or 'interviewed' maybe because I was dressed as Pirate for the evening ^^
We got inside Bobbys which is a club like bar designed like the streets of Hollywood, very very nice place i must say!
Had a few drinks, some people dancing to the ultra crap music (sorry but a regular song with continuous, repetitive beats in it was really annoying IMO.) Anyways, there was then a pause for a small show, some flame throwers and a fox- Indiana Jones running in with the Midfur X poster, being chased by... something? and some bad guys happen and get defeated ect. it was entertaining. Thankyous and announcments were made and then the night went on until close.
Friday 4th Dec:
Got up reasonably early to watch the 'your first fur con' panel.... this is my 4th midfur.. but it was hosted by 2 gryphon, so we thought we'd go watch it anyways! ^^ After that i decided to go get suited up in my newest fursuit i created, Jasper. Went back down, got alot of comments and went in to watch the 'making a fursuit' panel, very interesting and you learn some new things too! It was hosted by BC wolf and some others, It was very awesome ^^
After that I got out of suit and i think we went and got some lunch? I cant really remember.. but when we got back we sat down to watch the 'furs in the movies' panel. It was hilarious!! I enjoyed it alot! I can only remember Lupie being one of the hosts because i know him, but there was a lady there who is famous for somthing i cant remember and also the director of "Priscilla Queen of the Desert" He is a very awesomly funny guy and made it very enjoyable with all their stories!
Then i got my art book and went to visit the artjam area.... not many people in there doing anything, but i spent my time there drawing a special gift picture for Kraden, as he drew one for me the day before =3
After that, stuff happened.. what exactly i wouldnt remember, there was alot happening all the time! XD I got back to our room where i got dressed up again, this time as a random Zombie! ^^ i had to do some really quick umm.. wound making? pretty much got out the liquid latex and built up some evil wounds ad painted myself in body paint to be bleeding and bruised, then driped some tasty stage blood into it all! got help from Rob wolven to mess up my horrid hair and then we cruised down to 'friday night wild'..... we were presented with a video made like a saw movie, it was realy good i thought! All of which was made to unveil the "mysterious special guest of honour" whom tunred out to be Uncle Kage. I was slightly let down as i thought it was going to be someone everyone knew but least expected. Dont get me wrong! I love kage! But I thought he was already going to be at the con because i recall the details of events on the website stating that "uncle kage was going to be the host of the story telling panel" which of course is who'd you'd expect to be on it anywayz! lol
Anyways, back into suit after brutally ripping off my latex wounds (worse than bandaids!!! i wasnt expecting that.. first time attempting such stuff >.> )
Went back down as Jasper and got alot of attention from very excited/happy or really drunk furs ^^ it was good fun and Kraden fed me booze with a straw into my suits mouth! XD I got lots of hugs and lots of photos and the night went on for a long while. After which we went up to a room party for a 'taste test scotch con' i didnt have any but crazy and enigma did ^^ i was hot and sleepy and still in fursuit, it was hard to pay attention to people talking. But soon enough we finally got to our room and decided we'd get room service. it was 1.58am the menu sounded tasty and we were hungry!!! ( it also said "all night menu 11pm- 6am) we rung up to order and were told they close at 2 am!! >.> that was a dissapointment, and crazy was not happy jan. so brekky food was late night dinner food.
Saturday 5th Dec:
Slept in ALOT! so much that after we got some brekky foods and got back the fursuit photo shoot was over ;_; (why it ended earlier than scheduled, i do not know >.>.... other wise i wouldnt have missed it) *sigh* anyways i rushed to get suited up anyway in hopes to get in, but alas they bailed on me.... i got there and robbie was standing in there looking out the window, i went over to see and out side was the people with cameras! They even had a mic and could talk to us from out side to the inside speakers, but they couldnt hear us. Robbie and I posed for photos and eventually more and more suiters came in for the photos in the window and we got alot of weird looks from passers by. XD
After that i found out the cos play panel wasnt going to be on and almost got to be a host for it with jen, but they decided to have a longer live ACTfur show on instead. For the begining i was getting out of suit and into my Link ears, wig and hat and then cruised down with crazy and my puppet fox to watch the show.
After that we went hunting for foods in the street, still with my fox puppet and link head. I got alot of 'aaawrs' and cute!! looks, some seemed to think i was holding a real animal at times as i made it look at them and move around >:3
THEN when we got back and i got into my Dr. Steel toy soldiers uniform and went down to watch the talent show. The talent show was really entertaining! I thought it was great! Kell Bangal's super fast voice thingy he did was amazing and Anthrax's stand up was hilarious! He was even asked by 2 and uncle kage to open their act for next years Midfur!! how awesome is that! XD
After that, it was dinner time and all the "gold class" attendees got to go eat with the guests of honor.... BUT we, went up the the top floor pool with a some furs and ordered pizza. ^_____^ it got a bit cold up there, but we had a good time =3
When the time came we went and got ready for the "gala" ball. there was no ball of any sort, just ravey, techno music and furs drinking and dancing. Tho before i go on, i must say, it was rather irritating that i had to all the way back to my room to get my mid fur pass, when i had been there for 3 days and obviously notable as an attendee as i was in a fursuit.... >.> security was a bit weird too... i think they were taking the con a bit too serious then they should have, it should be fun and have people helping out with happy faces... some peeps were a bit serious, unhappy looking and very picky about were you go and what u do. *sigh* because of that, i really miss the good old days midfurs.
BUT i had an awesome time, i actually danced! (omg ... me... dance??! what!?) yes.. i 'try' dance only when i'm in suit... i hate to out of suit, cause i really CANT dance... very unco and retarded at it.
I kept having to stop and have a break, crazy got me water and i talked to some furs aswell each time, it was good fun! it went on until midnight when the place closed...*awwrr*
Then got out of suit and crazy and I went up to Robbies room to relax with some furs and watch UP. We gave robbie all our foods and drinks as a parting gift XD and we went to bed, ready for a very early morning!
Sunday 6th Dec:
Arrr early mornings... 6.30 am, we are packed and ready to roll, got a taxi orded, left the rest of our foods at robbies doors with a kind "houskeeping!!" knock (lol) and we were off the the trainstation to get the skybus to the airport!
We couldnt stay at Midfur for the last day ;__________; i was very sad i couldnt be there and crazy was too. But we were already committed to going to a friends wedding this day. So we flew back to canberra, helped out crazys bro with his boat, relaxed a bit then got ready and dressed up for the Wedding.
Weddings are long and tediuos, the main part get over with really quick, then the food part comes much later. Alot of standing around waiting and being awkward.... crazy and I didnt know anyone really besides each other... but when we got tables, our table people were quite funny to be around, so it was good! and the food was yummy too =3 (plus free beer and wine!)
We got some photos and took off not long after the meal, it was getting late, and after all that midfurriness, i was tired! Twas good to get back and get to bed before 12am for once :p
Monday 7th Dec:
Got up early because everyone in the house we were at had early work starts. Looked on the net for a movie to go see, decided to go see New Moon (i am a fan of the books, i thought it would be good! XD ) arriving at the movies late as usual, i went in while crazy got us some food. of course, ad's go forever so by the time crazy got back with food, he'd missed only a few minutes of the movie itself.
It was an OK movie, but i'f you've read the books, they skipped alot of info and alot of awesome parts, so it was a good story that had been chopped up and scattered into some scenes. But the wolfies make up for it ^^
We were going to stay to watch Avatar, but it wasnt showing at that cinema >.> So we decided to head home. on the way, we had to pit stop to pick up an air conditioner and some lunch.
It was good to finally be on our way home after nearly a week being away. We took our usual 'shortcut' home, out in the middle of nowhere, thru some nice small country towns. It was nice, i like driving off the HWY... Not far out from Terago, while crazy was napping, something happened and he was rather rudely awoken by some crazy vixen (myself).
I cant pinpoint exactly why it happened, but i ran on to the soft gravel shoulder of the road, swerved off it, back on to the tarmac, spinning around fast and ending up backward into a tree in a ditch. At first i thought "did that really happen? what a dick!" *insert swear words ect ect* then i turned around to look at what was behind me. A big tree and a crumpled back end. That did it... i broke down into tears... probly from shock but i was thinking about what I'd just done to MY ute! My ute that we had so many plans for to make it awesome, i love my ute so much and i coulnt believe what i just did to it.... i was very upset. Crazy took me away from it to settle down and some cars that went by checked to make sure we were ok, one couple went to there home to ring up a tow service for us (there was no mobile reception out there)
So while we waited for the tow guy to come, i took photos. When the tow guy came he had to drag the back end sideways away from the tree and be put on backwards, the front was too deep in a ditch to come out forwards, plus a tyre had come off the rim.
We got a lift back to Terago and got the tyre blown back up and another had to be cleaned out with all the debris stuck between the rim and tyre. The diff and chassis seemed all good and since the front was all sweet still, it still ran. replaced a globe where the tail light got pulvarised and taped on the broken lens to be able to drive back home.
This time, crazy drove XD theres alot of dirt road and roadwork down that way and he decided to take a 'shortcut' which in fact was a very long cut because it was a dead end and the only way out was to reverse... it was a steep soft dirt truck hill with rocks. it took a few attempts but we eventually got out! ^^;;;; *luckily*
Stopped for noodles then got home!! *pass out*
Unfortuantly, the ute is not very legal to drive as is... probably a write off technically.... gunna have to get my self a good job asap and save up for another ;_; although, i wish i could have IT as my project ute, i'll miss it, i already miss the sound it makes.. it sounds diffenernt after that! >.> hopefully i can get another cheap enough and use my utes insides for it... or something... but that cant happen until i have money again O___O; *sniffles*

I wasent overly concerned of the ute's well being, as i usually would have bee, because it was now a write off.
To repair it will need to go on a car-o-liner and be pulled. and many hours spent reforming the metal. and shrinking. probably more economical to replace the entire 1/4 but probably more economical to buy another ute.
I had a good read thru your post, and I must say I find it extremely helpful.
I will be sure to refer back to this (I have saved it as a word doc on my lappy) and go over it as we plan so we can learn from our mistakes, and work towards providing as many people as possible with the most enjoyable of times at MiDFur without loosing the old school MiDFur mentality.

Have you read thru the posts on ozfurry e-mails about suggestions for next years midfur? i thought there was alot of interesting ones, so i put in mine aswell ^^; (although not really super practical)
It was awesome to see you again aswell! and it seemed like you were alot less stressed than you were last year XD It was also nice that you noticed all my crazy outfits as i changed thru the con! XD
I'll be posting some cute photos of you with Jasper too shortly! ^^ Thanks for an awesome con pete! *hugs*

btw - the dread falls were _unbelievable_ under the blacklight at bobbys O_o
