The holiday depresses me. No, not for the obvious reasons, but because it seems to have lost its true meaning.
V Day originally was supposed to be a nice day to spend with someone you really care about. Ya know, cuddle up on the couch, have a chocolate, watch an old movie ya'll love....

It seems like it's only about the biggest gift. Who got the most this or that blah blah blah.

Dammit, go cuddle on the couch and forget that maybe your bf or gf or even good friend couldn't afford to buy you a big honkin' gift!!!!
Does it matter if you got candy or not?? Is that SUCH a big issue?

nearly every holiday is materialistic (my opnion :3)
Most of the people I know, like to give expensive massive gifts. Which to me is redundant. Even just buying a simple rose/flower, and spending time together is all that should matter. Not who has the BIGGEST gift to flaunt. Just like a lot of holidays, they've lost their meanings to commercialism.
I don't need massive gifts to make me happy.
And I really don't like chocolate.
What happens to those giant teddy's anyways? They sit and collect dust, or get destroyed because the gf or bf broke up with you =/
If I do give gifts, it's usually small doodle drawings or some candy. A lot consider me cheap for it too.
oh, oh, I remember one insident where one girl got mad in the middle of the mall and was screaming at her guy because he bought her a bag of candy and nothing else.

Good thing I don't need Valentine's Day to know I'm cared about/loved. I'm totally with you on that standpoint, though. Most holidays are way over commercialized now, especially Christmas.

Eh, all in all, yeah, too materialistic. Everyone loves things, not each other, nowadays..
But then, this is all moot to me as I don't have a GF, and I'm not really interested in getting one in the first place. (Seriously, for all its upsides, it's still way too mushy for me. Kisses = gross ... I know, I'm stuck at 8. =p)
