Sketches for Ret Rescue
Commission info is below
EDIT: As of 3/15 I ended the project, however if I have time I will still try and sketch for you if you donate. Unfortunately, other things have priority so it may take some time for me to get back to you.
Mainely Rat Rescue released the details of the horrible situation they encountered and why they desperately needed the quarantine homes. There are a number of pregnant females and unhealthy rats that were surrendered to the rescue, and money is needed to help fund their medication and care.
You can see the details of the latest surrender here in my livejournal:
http://stormslegacy.livejournal.com/30291.html
I would like to do a fundraiser to help raise money for the cause.
Just $10 can supply antibiotics to as much as 5 rats in need. $5 will feed all of their pregnant females for a day...every little bit helps!
How this will work:
Go to the paypal donate button at the bottom of this link. Donate money, whatever you can, be it a dollar or twenty.
http://mainelyratrescue.org/rattieb.....g2/?page_id=28
Send me a screenshot or something as proof that you donated, and a link to a character, an emotion (happy, sad, mischeivious...) and whether you want them nude or clothed. I will make sketches of a quality determined by the donation--larger donations = more time spent, 1 dollar donations = quickie sketches. For donations of $15 or more, you can suggest 2 characters. $20 gets some detail to a background and $25 gets you three characters (may be a group shot, or might be 3 seperate pics).
Unless the donation is $20 or more, I get to choose pose etc. For complicated characters if you only give a dollar it will most likely be a headshot or the like.
These will be scanned in, not shipped, though if you buy something else down the road I can ship it then. If you pay more that $10 I'll gladly reconsider, I just don't want to be shipping out a bunch of $1 sketches, it's just not worth the hassle.
EDIT TO ADD: I'll be doing these all this week and into Sunday, so if you can't until friday or whatever that's fine.
If people could put a link in their journals and pass the word on I'm doing this I would be grateful, it would be a good way to help if you can't donate. I'm running a contest for those that spread the word, drawing is on Sunday:

those are my two babies right now well when they were much smaller looking into getting/building them a huge rat manor =D
The two rats peering through the bars in my journal link are my fosters Ray Wilson and Phil Collins, hehe.
yeah been trolling craigs list for a big one but most arent the shape and size i'm looking for want to get them one that is wide enough for them to run around =)
but i think i found a good one on ebay actually that way i can keep the smaller for in case (heaven forbid) one of them gets sick and or if i buy/adopt more
i might invest in a tank topper too since we have so many tanks (dearc use to have somewhere around 20 snakes and a couple lizards)
btw if you every wanna chat bout ratties and forstering or anything my aim is Voodoomoonwolf =)
Mine's Stormslegacy28, I'm not always chatty online because my tendonitis acts up if I'm on the computer too much, but i do love to talk pets ^_^
My fiance grew up in Houston, I'm strictly a New Englander myself, though sometime I want to try living elsewhere. There are a couple rat rescues out your way, but I'm not as familiar with them.

The best site I see right now is: http://dapper.com.au/toys.htm#hammocks that said, what I do for hammocks (I like fleece backed with a pretty flannel, but I've found most scrap fabric works fine as long as it doesn't have loops like towels which can catch rat claws) I cut 2 equal sized squares or rectangles (1ft by 1ft is a great size) and pin the hem together wrong sides facing in. I pin small loops of ribbon to the corners for hanging (some people just put grommets in the corners when they finish it or even nothing at all and hang them with paperclips) I sew around 3 of the edges and leave a space for turning it inside out, sew the remaining part and then I do a row of stitching about 1/4-1/2 inch from the edge to make it difficult for the rats to chew the edges--as an owner I've found it adds a significant amount of durability as well as looking more professional. Example:
http://rachelsrathammocks.weebly.co.....40/7520628.jpg
You can vary it too, sewing 2 together to make pockets, making large triangles, etc. Here's some good example pics:
http://dapper.com.au/hammocks.htm
My rats love it when I sew the opposite edges of a regular together to make tubes to snuggle in. As a variant, I often take old jeans, cut off 10 inches or so from the leg and line the inside of it with fleece. I sew loops of fleece or ribbon to the top (usually between the lining at the front and back of the tube, two 3 inches apart on each side like here: http://dapper.com.au/hammockloft.jpg
I've also made cubes, where I sew 2 cubes out of fabric (one for the main part and one for the inside) and have a door cut into one panel: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3177.....976b566d9b.jpg (it's easier to make than it looks, though one of the more time consuming ones--pocket ones are just fine! I thought you might want something fun if you're feeling creative) I've seen pyramids and other shapes, each one is pretty awesome.
There's also no-sew patterns which can be adapted:http://www.suzsugargliders.com/nose.....ccessories.htm
I love rats and hope these guys get better and find a great home. I have 5 of my own in a large Ferret Nation cage. One of mine is nearly 2 years old and starting to show his age. He is absolutely adorable and loveable. I cant think of how someone can mistreat these lovely creatures! I work in a pet store and someone let loose 3 adult male rats into our store (where dogs are allowed to come in on a leash). They could have been crushed by machinery, killed by a dog, gotten out and starved to death! When we caught them they were afraid of people, would bite, their fur was gross and dirty, we got them homes but I still cant believe they would do that.. There was an SPCA about 3-4 miles down the road. Luckily they were spotted in the store probably about 2 days after they were released into the store. I hope they do well and respond to antibiotics... rats are such fragile things when a respitory infection gets to them.

Im a pine martin/squirrel mix, that has more of a face of a pine martin with canines and squirrel incisors, squirrel like ears as well. If you can throw in a male bear with nonspecific markings that would be fine too.
Hope it helps, Ill donate later next week around Friday.

and a pic of my old ratty!
http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/.....r-K/Orion6.jpg
Goodness, he's adorable ^_^ Such pretty slate grey colors, and I love the faces of older male rats--the skull shape is appealing, hehe.
When I decided to get into animal rescue I actually chose rats because of how much society seems to excuse mistreatment simply based on "it's just a rat." The same people that are horrified by cruelty to a cat or a dog think nothing of telling me I should feed my pets poison as a joke -_- Even "animal-lovers" hate rats often. It's a shame too, because rats are certainly as intelligent as the average dog. Just very small.
Tasteful nude is fine, just make the face kind of a mix of a marten and a squirrel, the tail can be fluffy like a squirrels but a shorter length if that makes any sense to you. XD I have a bunch of self drawn pics of my character only no scanner so Im sorry I dont have more references.
Imma message them and see if they'd take sleep sacks (fleece tunnels) as well as hammocks.
I'm pretty sure they do, but not 100% sure.
Alright, I'll message them about it. They need an Ohio chapter XD
