A sort of addendum to my last journal.
I've been thinking a lot since my last journal.
I watch the Daily Show and the Colbert Report. I watch them every day and I just realized something. That old axiom from the Talmud (Jewish text. Read it sometime.) "Who shall bring redemption if not the jester?" really applies. Everyone has something to lose in life by telling the truth openly except those for whom such truths are their bread and butter. Comedians can say what they want with relative impunity because everyone expects them to be funny by making truth apparent in a harsh light.
Maybe Keats had a point about how "Truth is beauty, beauty truth." Maybe the only beauty left is in comedy. Maybe the beauty he spoke of was freedom. Maybe the freedom is the ability to do and say what needs to be said and done.
It's no great insight, but if the only ones who can freely speak are those of us who are funny, maybe we will inherit the Earth?

That's why I thank god for comedians, who don't give a damn what people think, and say what needs to be.
But I guess it makes sense when one of our truely great thinkers said it best...
"I would never belong to an oragnization that would have me as a member." G. Marx.
I dunno.. I think I have my Twain quote some where.. "Do not say the world owes you a living, it owes you nothing and was here first."
If he's not in it for the money and fame, why is he rich and making music videos? The real rappers who are in it to get a message out are not rich or famous 'cuz they're more interested in getting their message out than getting a recording contract.
As I said, he's a talented guy, but his self interest precludes him from being a hero or even a bearer of the truth. He's a punk kid with some talent and skills who got more money than he expected and has no idea how to be anything but a punk kid.
