Back from FWA, Fucking Furries!!

Just got back from FWA after 15 hours straight driving in a car without cruise control. my whole right leg aches from hip to ankle.
FWA was a fun con....but.
black-tie and I were as the lizard said in Formula 51, "I am truly ass invaded!!"
7 people were lined up to room with Black-tie and me over the weekend. 2 were for Thursday night only, wanted floor space. but due to car issues, unable to make it.
Okay, acceptable. Then there were 5.
Another flat out ran out of money just before the con....grrrr.
Another was offended that 5 were in the room, and despite being insured a bed, backed out. GRRRRR!!!
Then Wednesday night, one asks "How much is the room going to be?" I tell them "4 in the room, 4 nights, each person handles one nights cost of $160.42, tax included."
But no..."I pay only $25 for the whole weekend,not $160!!"
This isn't 1959!! Fuck off!!
Then 2 more ASSURED ME Wednesday night for Friday and Saturday occupation...Duskwuffie and Novaris. I give them my cell phone number, tell them the room number along where to find me and Black-Tie.
No show, they can't even bother to return my calls saying they weren't going to room, I know they got the messages, just can't bother to call back nor do they seek us out. Leading us to scramble to scare up Roomies friday night to no luck.
AND the final little furry indian..
Lazy Skunk....he shows up, telling us through Sunday...skips out like a thief in the night while we were downstairs leaving only a token minor payment.
You 3 putzes literally cost both Black-Tie and I alot of money, killing what money we made to pay off the room you guys promised to stay in and cover your portion. Forcing us to leave the hotel a day early...OH AND WHICH...
Hilton hotels will fine you $139 for checking out earlier than you slated yourself for!!!
Yes, I'm thoroughly pissed off over this weekends bullshit. And next time will only room with people I personally know.
The Con itself went well, very happy with the staff, Rama himself for allowing me a last second dealers room table.
I sadly got zero sales in the dealers room Friday (probably due to me assuring I'd be found in artists alley all before the con!) and Saturday sales were decent. Sunday was a whole $5.00. In other words, I took a pounding, mainly due to the sudden lack of promised roomies eating up what money was made. I ended the con deep in the red ink. I also noted that sales were generally overall poor for a huge chunk of dealers and artists this year. having such a huge number of artists and fewer numbers of paying customers.
I did get rid of one headache at the con though...well, not AT the con...I traded off the blown up Maadi AK-47 for a Ruger P-95 9MM pistol at a nearby gunshow. Better a working handgun than a busted AK. But $12 entry fee....CHRIST!! I'm used to $5-$8 to get in a gunshow!
Plus on the way home I was busted by Kentucky police doing 89 in a 70 zone. And walked away with just a verbal "please slow down" warning. Seems the officer liked my "God Bless our troops, especially our snipers!" bumpersticker. He was a sniper in Afghanistan a year ago!!
Oh and Mu lan Chinese...
colley treated me to a delightful meal....and boy was that GREAT food!!! Especially when compared to the crap they served in the nearby food court.
I'm rambling, in alot of pain and dead tired. I'm going to bed. I know I missed alot, but sleep deprivation does that.
Now I'm back to square zero to make up what FWA failed to do.

Sorry to hear you had some problems... Dude... that's just rough... Sorry to read about it.
Theres a few here on FA I've roomed with in the past and I will never again. usually cause they are stupid with money.
One classic non-paying excuse was "I can't pay you, cause I bought a great Vicky Wyman piece of art and I'm broke now." I never got paid back.
Another skewed his rate saying "You said $30 all weekend!" when I told everybody $30 per DAY.
If I'd gone this year, you'd have gotten some of my money, at the very least... When I'm low on cash, I tend to spend money on artists I want to support, and there are only a handful of them out there.
Even if it is for one day.
See, i now refuse to room with anybody unless I'm sleeping with them. Plan!
Still kinda sucked, though.
(The main reason for not going? A lot of FWA is socializing, and I... well, don't, at least not very well. But this is your journal, not mine, so I won't go all emo on you. You can put the mop away, I'm not going to /wrist. )

next time you go to a con, look me up if we are both going to be there. I have a set group that are together when it comes to rooming. If you want you are welcometo join us, and don't worry, you'll have bedspace.
It was nice to meet you in person, though. Here's hoping the next con fares better for you!

After 2-3 times of pulling that, we stopped inviting him in or simply pulling exactly HALF of a pizza for him to his protesting NOOoOOoOOO!!
