MDFURS: Cherry Blossom Parade Meet!!!
Okay guys, it's almost Saturday, so I want to get a head count going to be there!
locadocoon graciously took his own time to make a site to get a head count, see who needs rides, who can give rides etc. To RSVP Comment HERE or: http://mdfurmeet.surple.com/event.aspx?mid=74 Preferably the link as it makes it easier on me. ((I'm only one folf!))
Also, feel free to comment here to blog and exchange for rides etc. So to recap, comment only if you ARE going/have a 50/50 chance of attending only.
So, the overview for Saturdays meet is as following:
Saturday April 10th:
Title: National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade and Street Festival Meet up
Time: 10 am- 12 pm ish Parade 12-6pm Japanese Street Festival
Repeats: Annually, Date varies
Location: Down Town Washington DC
Street: On the south//north ((haven't decided yet)) side of Constitution Ave. & at about 12th Street NW, DC to watch the parade
City, State Zip: Washington DC Google Map of the approx location
Cost: $ for metro && $$ Japanese food
RSVP: Tell me here in this journal // http://mdfurmeet.surple.com/event.aspx?mid=74 <-Register here
Notes: It's that time of year again for the annual Spring Cherry Blossom festival Parade in Downtown Washington DC! This event is *hopefully going to be* suiting friendly ((I am currently getting informed more on "permits")) but be prepared to remove any furry accessories upon request if asked so, especially if by local law enforcement personnel. It is being run by me the moderator here on MarylandFurs wintersnowolf I plan to be there about 8 am and mark off a fair amount of space along the curb to view the parade. look for acidy green tripps and my white folf tail. Bring snacks, chairs, blankets and plenty of water! Mostly everyone stands during the parade though.
Parade starts at 10am and typically lasts about 2 hours long. After the parade, we'll migrate to the 50th Annual Sakura Matsuri Japanese Street Festival at Pennsylvania Ave and 12st NW Click for Walking directions For those who don't prefer japanese cuisine there is a Quiznos about 1.5 blocks away Click for map route located at 1331 Pennsylvania Ave. NW. Either way bring CASH as I'm sure vendors are more likely to take that than plastic!
At the Japanese Street festival we can all still be together or disperse into our little groups to explore everything there. Do not expect me to baby-sit you! Socialize with others, interact, swap stories and have fun!
So this is an ALL DAY EVENT! Wear good shoes, er i mean paws.
Travel: The best way to travel there will be to take the metro. Roundtrip costs about $4.60 now (depending on where you come from). The closest stop would be the Federal Triangle stop off of the Orange/blue OR Metro Center ((red/blue/orange line)) of Metro. If you prefer to drive theres many metered parking ((free on weekends usually!)) and a few garages nearby. I will be driving and typically good free parking can be found surrounding the mall on Madison Drive NW && Jefferson Drive SW.
I will personally offer my vehicle to store suits etc in if you wish not to suit at the parade and/or street festival. I will also be bringing a case of cold bottled water for suiters.
