Vacation over!
... and as I finish this journal I have almost 1300 images in my Furaffinity backlog! Ack!
cth flew up to visit me and it was a lot of fun. :) We hung out, lazed around the house, went out to eat, went out to movies, and did other fun things.
Friday's key event was going to see Muse at Key Arena, and they put on an even better performance than the first time I saw them in concert! They're really great performers. Silversun Pickups opened for them, and they're pretty spiffy too. :D Afterwards while waiting for everyone to clear out of the parking garage, we went to this new restaurant called Genki Sushi in the QFC at the junction of Mercer. It's actually extremely good, with a la carte sushi on a conveyer belt, and for $20 we managed to fill up the both of us - that includes the desserts!
Saturday and Sunday was all about the camping trip up in the Cascades. I was the head chef of the event again and made a number of dishes including cheesy jalapeƱo burgers, blooming onions, chicken pesto tortellini alfredo, and homemade mapleicious deep-pocket belgian waffles the following morning, with Keef and Michael and Jango contributing such dishes as smoked chicken, soup, ribs, and fresh-fried donuts. The weather was better than last year, the people were more talkative and stayed around the kitchen more while we cooked, and in every respect I think it went off better than before. :) I do get the sense though that people didn't quite appreciate just how much work it was, because we made it look a lot easier than last time.
Movies! We saw Clash of the Titans, and How to Train your Dragon, and Hot Tub Time Machine, and Repo Men. That last one was at the dinner-and-booze-with-your-movie joint, the Cinebarre, which was appropriate because it's the kind of movie you need to see with a buzz, and the only one I wouldn't recommend to anyone else except with netflix. It failed in as many ways as Repo! The Genetic Opera failed, just differently, because this one was an action flick, but like Repo! it was quite a bit of fun if you ignore the wallbanger stuff and still worth seeing - just not worth paying for. The other three were all awesome though. ^.^ And of course there were the movies watched at home, like Labyrinth, which always has been and always will be my favorite movie. :D
There was lots of restaurant going and stuff too. All in all I'd say it was a fun vacation and much needed! I just wish I wasn't sick the whole time. ^^;
As long as I'm journaling, I like this meme so I'm going to do it. :3
1. If your fursona had to be a primate, it'd be...
A lemur! Mask and ringtail would make me feel more comfortable. :)
2. If your fursona had to be a feline, it'd be...
A spotted hyena! Yeah I know they're not precisely felines but neither are they precisely canines, and they're closer to felines than not. My alt, Malik, is of course a 'yena. :)
3. If your fursona had to be a canine, it'd be...
A samoyed! Adorable, fluffy, white, and smiley with a happy disposition. Also working dogs which suits a slavencoon like myself. :3
4. If your fursona had to be a hoofed animal, it'd be...
I'm not big on hoofed animals, honestly. But if I had to pick one, it'd probably be a lesser mouse-deer, because they're kinda cute. :) Failing that, some other cervine.
5. If your fursona had to be a cetacean, it'd be...
A commerson's dolphin; they have markings kinda like killer whales without actually being one, and they're pretty small, which suits me!
6. If your fursona had to be a mustelid, it'd be...
A ferret of course! My character is moving in the direction of becoming a coon-ferret hybrid as it is.
7. If your fursona had to be reptile, it'd be...
A tiny fluffdragon! But, if I have to answer with a real species, well, basilisk lizards are pretty awesome. Not only are they cute fellows, but they can move bipedally and can even walk on water!
8. If your fursona had to be a marsupial, it'd be...
Sugar gliders are pretty spiffy and cute. :D
9. If your fursona had to be a fully aquatic animal, it'd be...
I'd go with an otter or a seal but it says fully aquatic. :\ I'm tempted to say a plankton. It'd be an easy way to indulge my interest in being the prey in vore, my penchant for micro, and my general feeling of being inferior to others, all at once. :) Similarly with any tiny fish, like a sardine or anchovy.
10. If your fursona had to be an amphibian animal it'd be...
Salamanders are fairly awesome and among the only amphibians I actually like.
11. If your fursona had to be an avian/bird, it'd be...
A blue jay. It's in the same family as crows and ravens, which are awesome, and is likewise smart - but is quite spiffy looking as well!
12. If your fursona had to be a creepy crawly, it'd be...
An ant! See above under #9 about being tiny, voreable, and inferior, and add stompable. Plus they're actually kind of cute!
13. If your fursona had to be a real or unreal hybrid, it'd be...
Racoonferret!
14. If your fursona had to be a mythical creature, it'd be...
Hm. I'd be an Abatwa! It's a race of fey / fairies in South African folklore that are as small as and live with ants.
15. If your fursona had to be a Pokemon/Digimon, it'd be...
Zigzagoon. :3 Coonie.
16. If your fursona had to be a vehicle, it'd be...
Rollerblades count, right? They have wheels. ;)

The thing that sucks about this is that I could also see you as a clouded leopard and a mongoose.
I hadn't considered clouded leopard, but they're pretty awesome too :D
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Carnivora
Suborder: Feliformia
Family: Herpestidae
I had read recently that the mustelid branch is being reorganized a bit, (I think that the ratel used to be considered a skunk, but might be grouped with the NA badger now or something), but from what I'm reading here, the Order Carnivora is split between two suborders Feliformia "cat-like" and Caniformia ("dog-like"). And mongooses are all in the cat-like pile, whereas us weasels are all in the dog pile. Heh, dog pile.
I think this meme should be more specific, though, because for example, when it says "feline" I would think it was narrowing down to the family felidae. ...or something...
....KITTIES!
Also, seriously. http://ladysabine.com/CloudedLeopard_02.jpg But vanilla flavoured.
D'awww at the leopard, too. What an adorable nosey, especially. ^.^
Also, ohno badgers and wolverines. D= But we are much like ferrets, only grumpy!
I think that wolverines already have their own unique genius... whee, we were talking about getting a giant mammalian taxonomy chart for the wall, but it would have to be like, cork board or magnets or something so we could rearrange.
For the record, I wish more arguments/debates were like this. "I think X" "Oh, I heard otherwise from X. Here is a citation for Y." "Oh, I stand corrected. Here is some interesting related information."
The food sounds verrrrry yummy, btw. I shoulda taken an unathorized trip up there and sampled some. XD
