Took it due to boredom
I got exactly what I identified myself as quite a while ago without the assistance of a quiz of any sort and... This is basically dead-on the center-- SAVE for the "As a Parent" part, because I've sworn myself to NEVER expect all A's and B's from any child.
"I need to understand the world"
Observers have a need for knowledge and are introverted, curious, analytical, and insightful.
How to Get Along with Me
• Be independent, not clingy.
• Speak in a straightforward and brief manner. ( get your tongue straight before you blabber off your mind or you'll sound like a babbling twit )
• I need time alone to process my feelings and thoughts. ( this )
• Remember that If I seem aloof, distant, or arrogant, it may be that I am feeling uncomfortable. ( I guess )
• Make me feel welcome, but not too intensely, or I might doubt your sincerity.
• If I become irritated when I have to repeat things, it may be because it was such an effort to get my thoughts out in the first place. ( this )
• don't come on like a bulldozer. ( you must come on like something which weighs less than a G1 Hummer )
• Help me to avoid my pet peeves: big parties, other people's loud music, overdone emotions, and intrusions on my privacy. ( overdone emotions: PLEASE, just keep a LID on it and consider for 2 seconds what it is you're even feeling before spewing )
What I Like About Being a FIVE
• standing back and viewing life objectively ( I get chills thinking about this )
• coming to a thorough understanding; perceiving causes and effects ( it's like a series playing out in my head )
• my sense of integrity: doing what I think is right and not being influenced by social pressure
• not being caught up in material possessions and status ( wtf monies? )
• being calm in a crisis ( if not too calm )
What's Hard About Being a FIVE
• being slow to put my knowledge and insights out in the world ( my hands and mouth do not work when I have something good )
• feeling bad when I act defensive or like a know-it-all ( I'd have to say sorry faster than the quirky job-interviewees who say sorry to everything in order to convey my apologies for when I sound pompous :< )
• being pressured to be with people when I don't want to be ( rare anymore that I don't want to be, but when I don't, it always strikes me in the face )
• watching others with better social skills, but less intelligence or technical skill, do better professionally ( IT BURNS USSSSS )
FIVEs as Children Often
• spend a lot of time alone reading, making collections, and so on ( seashells, rocks, feathers, origami ... )
• have a few special friends rather than many ( I had ~3-5 from 2 to 7 )
• are very bright and curious and do well in school ( hehe )
• have independent minds and often question their parents and teachers ( this )
• watch events from a detached point of view, gathering information
• assume a poker face in order not to look afraid ( I have a near-permanent scowl :S )
• are sensitive; avoid interpersonal conflict ( + Aspergers = THIS x9002 )
• feel intruded upon and controlled and/or ignored and neglected ( parents are being hover-parents )
FIVEs as Parents
• are often kind, perceptive, and devoted
• are sometimes authoritarian and demanding (Hate this parenting style)
• may expect more intellectual achievement than is developmentally appropriate (This is NOT socially healthy)
• may be intolerant of their children expressing strong emotions (I am intolerant of other peoples' children who express strong emotions and aren't mitigated by the parent)
