New male/male comic? You decide!

Fans have been demanding a gay comic/series for awhile now, so it's time to give you one! I'll also be using this launch to test a new method of producing a comic.
Thank the pirates for both the problem and the solution, the new series will be donation based and here's how it works:
*Starting now any donations made to my PayPal account (zillford_x@hotmail.com) will apply toward the new comic
*It will be 16 pages in length and feature my new-ish gay character, Lance as he learns a lesson about the trouble boasting can get you in as he attempts to get backstage at the big rock show.
*Upon reaching the following donation milestones I will upload hi-res pages for download, for free, forever.
$200 - cover + page 1
$300 - page 2 (remember, the $300 INCLUDES the previous $200)
$400 - page 3
$500 - page 4 (dicks probably start showing up here...)
$600 - page 5
$700 - page 6
$800 - page 7
$900 - page 8
$1000 - page 9
$1100 - page 10
$1200 - page 11
$1300 - page 12
$1400 - page 13
$1500 - page 14
$1700 - pages 15 + 16
*I will update weekly with the current donation status. I may hi-light any especially generous donations unless you include a note wishing to remain anonymous.
*Print copies will still be available for purchase online when it's done, they will probably have a page or four of extras.
Krista Claret will continue as it did before, very slowly while I finish up other work. If this donation system works well I'll probably switch all my comics too it. Let's see if the pirates knew what they were talking about when they sugguested this.

Every donation adds up, it will be constantly cumulative.

I don't think I can contribute though, so Sorry.. Maybe within the next few days? We'll see!
my guess is this will take a few months, so you've got some time. Maybe my fans will surprise me and raise the cost in a week. If that was the case I'd have the comic cranked out in no time.

Since pirates will always cut into my standard sales, I'm open to any suggestions on how to make comics pay enough to even scrape by.
I dabble in the stock market. If I had to compare your idea to a publicly traded company (lol) it would sound something like this:
Invest is our company! We have no idea what our finished product will be and if you don't invest in us we're just going to stop right there and there and just kind of take your cash and just drop everything. Oh and your personal enjoyment and outcome depends on other people most of which are are in the age range of 16-21, don't have a job, and probably won't donate.
OH! And even if you invest in us, you don't have any share or control.
Match, fire, money, burn.
I just don't see how anyone who actually cares about what and how their cash is being used for will do this. If you want to make money off something why don't you just make a really good product that everyone wants and will pay face value for?
This project was in response to the piracy that currently cuts into my regular sales. As someone who's mastered Wallstreet may not know about, donations are a common way for creative types to not die and to keep drawing free art for their fans to enjoy. As an added bonus to that warm fuzzy feeling that giving leaves you with I figured some comics would be nice.
What this really sounds like is you hate your job and had a bad day. Sorry.
I'm all about paying for good stuff and have paid for art. Got to say though, the way for creative types to not die is to create a good product. Not ask for donations and hope people pay you.
You also completely missed the fact that this project succeeds or dies in my fans hands. I continue to do my career completely aside from this. If it's a grand success, then everyone wins and the pirates can be right in their suggestions and have nothing to steal anymore. If it fails, fans get the investment they paid for (All paid pages will be available online until the internet dies) and the pirates turn out to have had a dumb suggestion.
I guess I'm more curious what you felt the point of posting was? Did you think you were providing me a service? Mad you can't make a career out of art? Hate your job/boyfriend/etc.?
Not too different from someone blaming immigrants for stealing their jobs.
Instead of racing about getting on DNP lists and threatening bogus legal action, I just asked the key pirates how they suggested I continue doing art while still paying my bills. This was THEIR idea. I was skeptical, but it's proving to be rather promising. I had to take time out from our *charming* chat here to update my front page with my latest donation.
I'm sorry you're annoyed by a market you are not a part of nor have any clue as to how it operates. I wish you better luck with your stocks than you've had with your art career.
It's just pretty amusing. That's cool though. Like I said people will probably end up throwing some amount money at you, these "fans" you speak of who touch themselves to what you draw. I can't really say much to that though since I've paid for erotic art so I won't go down that road because it would be pretty hypocritical.
Sorry I'm cold and dead inside. I don't get a warm fuzzy feeling by donating to people and I expect people selling a product to have merit in that product and make it worth its weight in the actual money they're asking for.
Good luck in your career and I hope it's more prosperous than asking for donations to keep food on your plate because the boogeyman is stealing it.
