Methods of payment:
I have PayPal so you can send me money to that thru MissaBlitz@aol.com. Please include a message that has your username in it, so I know who you are and all that jazz.
I also accept Wish List items as payment. Please see my Wish List journal or contact me for more details on that method of payment.
I will no longer start a commission until I have received payment. I have been burned too many times because of this. I have started, finished, and even uploaded art before and never got paid for it. Or, I'll be half way thru a piece and then the commissioner backs out and I've wasted time on art that will never be finished or paid for.
If you are commissioning a large amount of work, I will be happy to work out a payment plan with you. (For example: half up front, the rest after the first approval.) I will not finish anything, though, until I have been paid in full.
Please note: Paypal charges fees for the transfer of money. It does not seem like a lot, but it quickly adds up. Please keep this in mind if you pay via Paypal! There are websites that can calculate the Paypal fee for you once you enter in a monetary amount. You can also send the payment as a 'gift' or 'payment owed' as neither of those methods will take out a fee.
Refunds:
In the event that you have paid me for a commission and I've already started it and you decide you no longer want the art, I will do a refund for what has not yet been drawn. If I only get a sketch done, I will only keep a sketch's worth and refund you the rest.
If I have completed your commission in its entirety, I will not refund you. I give you in-progress scans and pictures so you can tell me if you want something changed. I will not accept responsibility if you do not request those changes and the final piece is not what you expect. I simply will not do a refund for buyer's remorse.
Please remember that if it took a couple of days for the money to reach me when you paid, it may take a couple of days to get back to you. This is how banks and Paypal works and is beyond my control. I will let you know as soon as I have made the transfer so you can be on the look out for it.
Media:
I am a traditional artist. I sketch with a mechanical pencil. I ink with Sharpies, Copics, or india ink pens. For my colors I use Copic and Prisma markers and color pencils.
For my chainmail, I use anodized aluminum rings and latex-free rubber rings and occasionally I use galvanized steel rings.
For lamination, I use gloss packets and heat laminators.
Process:
I will make a new journal entry advertising that I am open for commissions. At this time, it is a first-come, first-served sort of deal. Comment on that journal or note or email me to work out the details of what you'd like. I will give you a price. You then have 30 days to pay that amount. If you do not pay within that time frame, you will be removed from the slot/art queue and I will select someone else to fill your place. I will not start on your commission until I have been paid.
Once I start, I will sketch out the piece (be it a badge, full color, whatever) and send you a scan for approval. At that time, please tell me about any changes that need to be made and I will do so. After that first approval, I will "fine line" the sketch; make the pencil lines darker and more detailed, making it easier to see. This will be scanned and sent to you for the second approval. Again, please tell me if anything needs to be changed. If there are changes to be made at this stage, I will send another scan for approval. Once this sketch has been approved, I will begin inking.
Once I have inked the image, I may ask for color recommendations but I usually will not do this unless I am stuck on what colors to use. Once colored, I will send you a scan for final approval. Once you have approved it, I will upload it to my gallery unless you have said otherwise. (Such as the image is a birthday gift and cannot be uploaded until that person's birthday.)
PLEASE feel free to tell me if I've done something wrong or if you want something changed. You are PAYING for this art so I want to make sure I've got it RIGHT.
Also note that I will not typically give in-progress scans for badges, as they are small and quick commissions. Unless you have commissioned multiple badges or your character is complex, you will have to ask for in-progress pictures for badges or bookmarks.
You will also receive high-resolution scans (aka, super large images) if you ask for them. I usually email these to you so I will ask for your email address if you want the original files.
For chainmail, if you want a custom bag done, please note or email me. We will work out the details of what you want your bag to look like and then, once I have been paid, I will make the bag. (In the event that I must order more supplies to make your bag, I will inform you.) Once the bag is finished, I photograph it and then mail it to you.
The same applies for chainmail bracelets.
Shipping:
Shipping costs vary. Care boxes and piggy banks include the shipping fee in their price. Everything else varies. A few badges will be a different price than sending a ref sheet. If you ask me to mail something to you, I will tell you exactly how much it will cost. Badges are meant to be worn and I will always ship them to you. When you commission me for a badge (or multiple badges) I will include the cost to mail them in your price quote.
Badges are sent in bubble mailers for protection. The badge clip IS included in this mailer. If you order more badges then can fit into a small sized bubble mailer, I will put them into a box. The price is the same. I mail your piece(s) in whatever will fit and protect the best.
For larger commissions-to-be-shipped (piggy banks, care boxes, lots of badges, etc.) I will add a tracking number, delivery confirmation, and insurance. Unless you specify that you do NOT want these options, I will be adding them.
If you want a smaller item mailed (full color images, one or two badges, etc.) you must ASK for a tracking number, delivery confirmation, or insurance. These three options are expensive to add on and unless you have paid me for them already, I will not add them. I will generally ask about these things, though, if you ask me to mail you something.
Also note that I live in Florida and depending on where you live, it may take a few days to reach you. This is one reason why I ask about tracking numbers. I will notify you the same day I have mailed your package so that you can be on the look out for it.
I ship my chainmail items in bubble mailers. In the event that your order will not fit, I will put it in a box. The price is the same.
Artist's Rights:
As the artist, I reserve the right to refuse a commission for any reason. I reserve the right to cancel a commission for any reason and will return funds not used. I reserve the right to add a copy or your drawing, or a photo of your piece, to my personal portfolio. I also reserve the right to recreate your (chainmail) piece for my personal use or for sale.
Frequently Asked Questions:
If you have any questions, please ask them via a Note to me. I will not only answer you back, but I will add it to my FAQ. My FAQ can be found here.
